Chapter 03.

When Narcissa told me to start in a run towards the brick wall between Platforms 9 and 10, I looked at her like she had grown a second head. But after watching Draco saunter through it with his luggage cart in tow, I felt a little more confident about it. Magic had been part of my whole life, but there were some things that would never cease to amaze and/or shock me. Narcissa patted my shoulder softly, and reassured that everything would be fine. Oddly enough, she had been pretty nice to me for the entirety of my stay at the Malfoy mansion.
Pinching my eyes closed, I started in a run towards the wall. The moment I expected to crash though, I ran through it as if it hadn't even existed. When I opened my eyes, I was staring at bustling parents in their wizard robes with their children surrounding and boarding a train donned the Hogwarts Express. I looked around from face to face in the crowd of people hoping to see Draco, but I gave up after a few minutes. We hadn't really spoken since our argument -- we basically just avoided each other -- so it made sense why he didn't bother to wait for me.
I boarded the train with a trace of slight resentment, the last thing I wanted was to sit with people who would bombard me with questions; I'd have to lie to every single one of them. Which, I just realized that I wasn't prepped for any kind of questioning. On top of that, I would've rather been at my house today, waiting for Megara and Jeremiah to get home from school.
Yes, I'm whining. Sue me.
The train made it's final whistle announcing the departure, and as we began moving, I attempted to make my way through the crowded train cars and scrambling students. Trying to find a place to sit was nearly impossible as most compartments were already filled. It must've taken me ten minutes to get to the back of the train, and after quite a few responding to me with "I'm saving a seat for someone else, sorry", I was becoming exasperated.
I spotted Draco a few feet away from me leaning on the outside of a compartment. Our gazes connected for a second before he nodded his head towards the compartment, signaling for me to come over. I vaguely wondered if he was suffering from amnesia. Did he forget my "blood traitor" status? But I guess I had to give him credit for not turning me in; he could've, and I'll admit that I definitely expected him to.
Not wanting to get stuck with someone worse, I made my way over to where he was holding the door open and silently walked into the compartment where four other people were already sitting; two chubby looking fellows that sat across from each other eating sweets, a dark skinned guy who was dressed really nice, and across from him was a girl with a pointed face.
"Who've you've got there, Draco?" The darker skinned boy asked slyly. "Making new friends without us?"
He rolled his eyes, "She's a transfer from The United States. Ilvermorny, right?" I nodded, playing along. I'm glad he thought of that, because I sure as hell wouldn't of. I'd have to remember to ask him more about it though since he seems to know more about my cover story than I do.
I sat down next to the boy and Draco sat next to the other girl in the compartment. "Cordelia Shea," I introduced, holding out my hand which he took and shook lightly.
"Blaise Zabini, at your service Miss America," he announced. "That's Crabbe, Goyle, and-"
"I'm Pansy. Pansy Parkinson," the girl said smiling, then leaned in towards me, "Don't mind Zabini, he's just got his knickers in a twist for dark haired girls." I couldn't help but snicker at Blaise's annoyed expression. I instantly relaxed internally, Draco's friends weren't so bad after all. I don't know what I was expecting. A pack of wolves, maybe?
