Nick sat down at an empty table with his lunch in one hand and a large rolled up poster of sorts in the other. No one ever sat over by the dumpster like him so he got to have the space all to himself. He spread out the poster and started unpacking his lunch. The poster had doodles of various fictional looking creatures all over it. He ran his fingers through his unkept dirty blonde hair, straightened his glasses, and got to work. Taking out a black marker, he added a bullet point next to a beautiful, mermaid looking creature. Nick them wrote down next to the dot "Mary Is Possibly One."
Mary is a tall girl with smooth, shiny black hair and freakish blue eyes. He hated to write it since, even though he denied it, Nick had a large crush on her, like many other guys in the school. Yet, all evidence pointed to her being a terrible, soul crushing creature. A Siren.
In the middle of writing he felt a hand grab his shoulder. In shock, Nick ran the marker in a line down the paper. Gasping, he stared at his now destroyed masterpiece. Nick spun around to yell but when he realized who it was he froze.
Marcus.
The plump, squinty eyed menace that's always been on Nick's case, ever since 1st grade.
"Hey dork."
"Hello, Marcus..."
The bully glanced at Nick's ruined poster. Surprisingly, instead of instantly making fun of it he seemed lost in the sheet of paper. Nick, not wanting to hear any petty insults, rolled up the paper, which snapped Marcus out of his trance. "Hah! You actually believe in that baby stuff, nerd?"
"Yes. Why do you care?"
Instead of answering Marcus just scoffed, took Nick's pudding, ate it in two seconds flat, used Nick's shirt sleeve as a napkin, and wobbled off.
Sighing, Nick took an actual napkin and tried to clean the disgusting pudding stain. All his life Nick had been obsessed with the weird, freaky, and all sorts of super natural things and he wasn't going to let Marcus the Hippo stop him.
