Chapter 12

"He's waking-" a female says, machines beeping.
"-prepare for hysterical behavior" a male medic says, I feel a sharp pain in the back of my head.
"-mild paralyzing serum administered" beep, beep, beep.
White lights are above me, where am I? Why can't I feel anything?
"HELP!" I yell trying to thrash but my body won't move, I scream out of rage and confusion, I scream again and again. Why can't I move?
A woman's face appears above me, Jules?
"Seth?" She says "I'm Liddy, a medic" where's Jules?
"Jules?" I mumble looking at her confused.
"No dear I'm Liddy" Jules doesn't have a British accent.
I scream and try and move my body only twitching, I scream louder.
"-Paralyzing serum wearing off Dr. H" a voice says, they paralyzed me?!
"YOU PARALYZED ME?!" I shout my voice quivering with shock.
She pats my shoulder and smiles down at me her over white teeth and perfect smile makes me want to punch her ruining her upper class smile.
"It was for your safety love" she says rubbing my shoulder, nope this is not Jules. I want Jules. Who are these people?!
"JULES!" I scream my body regaining control. I start to convulse violently, my pupils dilating and my temperature rising at record breaking rates making the machines go crazy. People rush around my bed and strap me down, the female medic who isn't Jules massages my forehead like mum used to do if I couldn't sleep.
"It's okay it's okay, breath Seth breath." She says softly. "We're just going to inject you with a relaxant, you'll feel a sharp pain in your arm" my body still convulsing violently makes it difficult and the syringe breaks in my arm. It was more then a sharp pain, I scream and thrash about, trying to escape this syringe filled hell. She squeezes my hand and rubs it trying to calm me down.
"Seth you are going to have to calm down" a male says sternly.
"Try his wrist" the woman rubbing my hand says, he sighs obviously given up. He approaches my hand, I tense up and try to snatch my hand away but he grabs it firmly and stabs the needle into my tense wrist snapping yet another needle in my wrist, I scream out of pain and hysterical frustration.
"-no more needles, do it through his nose" a voice says, people start to swarm around my head holding it in place, my bodies convulsions not easing but getting worse.
"-3" gloves snap.
"-2" my head is tilted back.
"-1" a syringe with clear liquid appears in front of my face and is shoved into my nose my screams being ignored as the icy cold liquid squirts in and drips into my mouth, I have to swallow. My body goes limp but I don't slip into slumber. Everyone's head morphs into my mums face.
"MUM!?" I yell in confusion why has everyone turned into mum? I scream her name repeatedly "MUMMMM!!!"
She squeezes my hand "there there love you'll have some hallucinations for an hour at the most"
"Mum?" I mumble looking at her in utter confusion.
"No dear I'm not your mum, your having ha-loose-in-nations" she says emphasizing on the big word that my drugged up brain doesn't compute with, she rubs my hand soothingly like mum used to do when Tullulah was sick.
"It's gonna be alright my sweet" she says softly "it'll pass" she stands up leaving my side and walking away.
"MUM" I yell reaching out my hand towards her, she looks at me and smiles then continues walking away.
I look around the white room filled of numerous medical equipment and glass looking window, next to it an electrical door. A conga line of unicorns start coming through the walls, the room swarming with conga line dancing unicorns and the theme song of Barney echoing around the room "Barney is a dinosaur from our imagination
And when he's tall, He's what we call a dinosaur sensation..." The group of conga line dancing unicorns sing creepily in Tullulahs voice.
"I love you, you love me.We're a happy family, with a great big hug an-" echoes around in Lacey's voice. The two songs mixing and getting louder. I scream unable to handle it any longer, I break the restraints and scratch at my ears still screaming. "STOP" I cry out scratching at my ears "PLEASE MAKE IT STOP" it gets louder and louder, my ears start bleeding. I free my legs and run groggily towards the window, I pound my fists on the window. Screaming. The window turns into jelly and my hands go through and they start bleeding purple jelly and sprinkles. Ten Barneys suddenly come through the door, my worst nightmare has begun. I'm grabbed by two Barneys chanting "Barney can be your friend too, if you just make-believe him!-"
They force me back on the bed and strap me down, tighter.
"GO AWAY!" I scream at them, they are still chanting. "LEAVE ME ALONE!" But more Barneys poor into the room. My face is briefly greeted with lava which gets more watery and translucent. When I open my eyes everything is back to normal no more Barneys or conga lines of unicorns. And no more noise. The not Jules sits down next to me placing her hand warily on my shoulder.
"Are you okay love? You make quite a racket" she says her voice soft.
"Barney comes to play with us, whenever we may need him"
"SHUT UP!" I scream, I thought they had stopped but now there in my head. I look at not Jules and wonder who she is.
"Who are you" I say looking at her face, blue eyes, blonde hair and flawless fair skin. Like an android.
"I am Liddy a medic on this ship" she says smiling down at me.
"Where's Jules?" I ask staring at her.
"Jules isn't in this team, we get assigned patients" Liddy says.
"Where am I?" I ask.
"In a medic ward" she replies still smiling, I open my mouth about to ask another question but she interrupts "-not more questions love"
She gets up and walks over to the male medic, syringe stabber. Their conversation is hushed and quiet, but about me. He walks over to me, probably to inject something. My bed starts to tilt.
"JESUS" I yell "WHAT ON EARTH ARE YOU DOING?!" My bed continues to tilt and then stops at a tilted standing position. The man walks in front of me, armed with a syringe.
"We aren't on earth any more, Seth" he says injecting the needle into my neck "My apologies I haven't introduced myself, my name is Dr. H"
"What did you inject me wighh" I slur at him.
"The proper relaxant" he says.
"The propa wahh?!" I say my mouth drooping.
"He's trying to admit that he stuffed it up!" A voice yells out, Dr. H looks to the ground guiltily and clears his throat.
"The patient didn't need to know!" He yells back at the voice.
"Whaaaa di ouuu injet mehh wigh dat tine" I say my speech getting worse. He cracks his knuckles and clears his throat again.
"Serum YZC-667, an experimental drug that got misplaced" he says.
He walks away briskly, leaving me alone.
"-no sorry Knight isn't allowed visits" I hear a voice say in the background, who would want to visit me?
"Please Liddy just let us visit for a few minutes-" JULES!
"-ll be supervised"
I hear footsteps approaching me. Jules, Nova, Tullibee and Flax.
Dr. H marches over to my bed and puts it down into a sitting position, releasing my arms and pulling a blanket over my legs and toward my waist, leaving only my chest exposed. I smile at them.
"Hulllow" I say waving my floppy wrist. Nova runs up and hugs me a medic yelling at him to be gentle in the background, his arms wrap around my chest, I hug back our embrace blocking out the world making our own world.
"Okay we want hug too Nova, so scat!" Tullibee says jokingly, her and Jules rushing up to me both hugging me shortly, Flax lingering next to Nova.
"How wongg has I be gon?" I slur trying to speak.
"Almost two weeks" Jules says quickly "okay maybe more..."
"We just don't want to unsettle you Seth" Tullibee says quickly.
"Well who's gonna tell the lad?!" Nova demands looking around.
"Two months!" Flax blurts, everyone's eyes go to him like he's a traitor.
"Whaaa?!" I say taking it in, two months. Two months! They laugh at my confusion
"T-W-O M-O-N-T-H-S" Tullibee spells out.
"VISITING OVER!" A voice yells out clearly. Jules and Tullibee wave and leave, Flax walks straight out. Nova waits until they're gone then bends down and we embrace, Nova breaks apart and kisses my forehead then walks away.
