Chapter 20

"Wake up-"
"Seth-"
"Wake up-"
Bright light, bright light. I open my eyes, it's blinding.
"Seth-" 
I open my eyes again, forcing them to stay open. Liddy.
"Hey buddy" she says, helping me sit up.
"Hey Liddy" I say "what's the year?" She looks at me almost unknown herself, I guess no one really knows.
"Uh 2117? I think ask Joël before he goes under" I nod and try to stand, my legs jelly. "Here's your schedule" she pass me a holopad and smiles before walking away. I look at the date on the holopad 8th January 2119, my nineteenth birthday is in a few months. I walk to the dining hall hoping that there's good food, not space muck. Helping myself I grab an over white plate and pile it with macaroni and cheese, I find a seat alone in the empty room. My holopad buzzes, I open it up and I look at my schedule; 0600 wake up, 0700 breakfast, 0800 workout, 1000 shower, 1030- 1300 assigned tasks, 1300 lunch, 1330- 1600, assigned tasks, 1600-1800 free time, 1800 dinner, 1830-2100 check on section E sleepers, 2100-2400 free time, 2400 lights out. Sounds more like a school camp then spacecraft to me, having everything organised so all you have to do is turn up. I ditch the dinner and look at the time 1820 time to head towards section E sleepers. I follow arrows pointing towards section E and get there in time.
"Ah Knight pleased to know its you taking over" A vaguely french man says
"Joël?" I ask looking around.
"Yes I am Joël" he laughs "I'll show you what to do" I nod and follow him to pod 1. He presses a green button and the pod comes out of the wall, he lifts open the lid, Neem. He looks so vulnerable just lying there. Joël lifts him up and puts him on the stainless steel table in the middle of the room.
"Here you wash them, change their clothes and top them up with sugar shots" he demonstrates stripping Neem then grabbing the shower head and washing him "can you grab the folded white gown Knight?" I grab the gown and hand it to Joël who puts it on Neem before carrying him back to the pod and shutting the lid.
"Your go now" he says smiling and walking off.
I do the task of cleaning and changing the people. I open pod 8 and find Nova, fully conscious. He tries to sit up and run but is too weak.
"Nova calm down, everything is going to be okay" I lift him up in my arms and place him on the table. "I'm going to have to strip you down, ok?" He nods, afraid. I peel his gown off him and grab the shower head.
"Is it cold?" Nova asks.
"I dunno, you tell me" I spray it on him and do what Joël said to do, despite his screams.
"Yup that was cold" he says allowing himself to be lifted back to his pod.
"Seth?" He says "please don't leave me here, please" I sigh and stroke his hair out of his eyes before kissing his head.
"Goodbye, Nova" I shut the lid and move on to the next person.
