You where only just walking into Squad 10's office when your captain was leaving, causing you to nearly knock into him, but luckily you managed to spin on your heel and fall back with a yelp.
"____? what are you doing?" Toshiro asked with narrowed eyes, as if he disapproved of your being in the doorway as he tried to leave.
you glare up at him, "your so short i didn't see you till i almost stepped on you Captain."
his eyes instantly went dark and his lips twisted into a scowl. "what did you say?"
you narrow your eyes and you glare at each other for a good few minutes, passing shinigami giving you weird looks.
Then you sighed and stood, brushing off your shihakusho. "Apologies Taichou"
"good-"
"for telling the truth"
"go to hell"
you laughed lightly but Toshiro looked far from amused, and you decided to try and mend it. "you taking that pile of paperwork somewhere"
"obviosuly" he snapped, shifting as the paperwork leaned to the left, he rested his chin on it and you laughed again.
"you look ridiculous and it looks like it weighs the same as you" you reach out and grab half the pile, "so i'm going to take at least half"
He didn't protest and a smile tugged at the corner of your lips as you saw a slight look of relief wash over his face before it vanished as quickly as it had appeared.
"But then again i am your third seat, so i could probably take all of it if you wanted me to captain"
"no, this is fine." he answered, beginning to walk, you walked a step behind him, keeping a respectable distance. He was after all your captain.
you walked together to squad 8 barracks, it took about 20 minutes and you conversed with your captain the whole way. Finding you had even more in common then earlier thought. However a few debates where started and ended with a snappy response from your captain which you wisely decided not to argue with. You did however, win the debate on wether you where a good third seat or not.
And by the time you reached the 8th squad's office, both you and toshiro where in a better mood then before.
"i'll knock" you said, knowing it would be easier for you to balance the paper in one hand.
He didn't protest, and let you take the lead.
After handing the papers over you both shunpo'ed back to his own office.
