A new Girls’ Generation single is always cause for celebration, so it’s fitting that the music video for the group’s latest effort, “LOVE&GIRLS,” is a total summer street party extravaganza.

The Mardis Gras, carnival-themed video sees Girls’ Generation performing for a colorful crowd that includes balloon-wielding children, drag queens, and about a billion Japanese fangirls. After so many set-based videos from SM Entertainment artists, it’s almost shocking to see the Divine Nine outdoors and partying with the people for once. The results amazing, making “LOVE&GIRLS” one of the group’s best videos to date.

The song, which is being released in Japan as Girls’ Generation’s seventh Japanese single, is just as great. It’s an upbeat, highly danceable J-pop confection with a whistle for a hook and some addictive accompanying choreography. At times it gives off a whiff of Wonder Girls or T-ara, and that’s definitely not a bad thing.
