My path is burning,

Flames guiding me

Along the way.

You are there as a distinct voice,

A light before me,

While the fire roars.

Would my scales fall?

Would my eyes fail?

Would I wander back to the Yellow Springs?

I will persist –

Enemies behind me,

And you before me.

My path is burning,

It will always burn.

But there, my path lies.

Lo, listen!

I come.

I am the thunder in the rain,

The call of the ocean.

Lo, enemies!

I come.

Cower in fear.

Cringe in terror.

I will protect the one

I love.
