Chapter Five - Head Throbbing Assignments
The week passed by without any major drama happening. Madison seemed intimidated by me so she kept her distance. I, on the other hand, had kept my distance from Andrew which is very hard because he seems to be there wherever I go.
He tried texting and calling me, but I didn't reply to any of it. I just want to live here in Ohio normally. I don't want to be one of those girls who as cliché as it sounds, watches soppy romantic movies with a big tub of Ben and Jerry's while crying their hearts out. I don't want to sulk just because of some stupid teenage angst. So, it's better this way.
As the week passed, I got to know more about Anna, Mila, and Blake. They're really great people. They always help whenever I have problems of some sort. I now also have Anna's number so I'm proud to say that I do not get lost anymore. Silly me.
Saturday evening, and I was busy answering all the head throbbing questions in Algebra and making an essay for English class to be passed on Monday when I heard small rocks thrown at my bedroom window repeatedly, it made my throbbing head throb some more.
I looked out and saw him. Handsome as ever. Is it possible that every time I see him, he becomes more handsome? I shook off the thought and realized that I should not think about these things because these things aren't supposed to be thought of. It's just there to break you. To devastate you.
I waited for him to say something.
After quite some time, he finally spoke, "Have you been avoiding me?"
"No," I replied calmly.
"Then why is it that every time I enter a room, you go out. Every time I'm right in front of you, you look the other way. Every time I text or call you, you don't reply or return my calls. Is that not avoiding?" he asked.
"Okay! Fine! I've been avoiding you! Do you expect me to talk to you after you almost kissed me?" I snapped. "You almost kissed me and we've known each other in less than two days!"
Tears are already forming my eyes.
He looked guilty, "I'm sorry," he replied in a tone I've never heard before. It's not cocky nor arrogant. It's just...just him.
I looked him in the eye and knew that his sorry was genuine. That he is really sorry for trying to make a move on me.
"Okay. I accept your apology," I replied to him with a small smile to reassure him that I'm being truthful.
He smiled hopefully. "Can I go up?"
"Why? I'm doing my assignments."
"I can help you. I'm smart you know," then he's back to being cocky, but I like his cockiness.
"Sure. It makes my head throb like crazy anyways--" before I could finish my sentence, he was already climbing the tree beside my bedroom window like a monkey.
"What the hell? Are you a monkey? Or you just want to prove to me that you have the skills of Spiderman?" I said wide-eyed.
"So you're saying I have bad-ass skills?" he said with a smirk. He was already inside my room.
"Nah. I was kidding. You are a monkey."
He faked a hurt expression, "You hurt my feelings."
"Aww. You deserve it monkey-spider boy," I said while laughing at him.
He grabbed me and then started tickling me. I was laughing like a hyena with tears in my eyes. "I won't stop until you say sorry."
"Tiffany, what is going on there?" shouted someone outside, it must've been mom.
"Nothing, mom. I'm just skyping with Cathy." I replied.
"Who's Cathy?" Andrew asked confused.
"Just my friend from Tennessee," he started grinning and looked at me with an amused expression, "Oh no, okay okay. I'm sorry. Don't tickle me again!"
"I win!" he said pumping his fist in the air.
"Sshh. Don't shout! Mom might hear and trust me, you don't want to get on her bad side," I lied.
Mom is nothing, but caring, loving, understanding, and good. So basically, everybody loves her. She doesn't judge people and she's the worst at holding grudges. I'm just saying this to Andrew so that Mom wouldn't hear him or else.
"Or else what?" Andrew asked.
Sh*t. Did I just say that out loud?
"Yes, you did," Andrew chuckled.
"Oh, I-i umm-m"
"It's fine. I will keep it down," said Andrew. "I think it's cute that you say your thoughts out loud," he added.
I blushed a crimson red and looked at him. He was already sitting at my desk working on my HEAD THROBBING assignments.
"Seriously? This piece of cake makes your head throb?" he asked smirking.
I glared at him.
"Well, sorry because I'm dumb Mr. Einstein," I replied.
"It's okay. I'm done," he said while standing up, "What do you want to do?"
"Wow! That was fast!" I exclaimed.
"Hmm..." I said while putting my index finger on my chin to look like I'm thinking really hard, "How about a movie?"
"Okay. You make popcorn and I'll choose a movie from this collection. Woah!" he exclaimed, "Where did you get all these?" he said pointing to the rack with hundreds of DVD's sitting on one of my divider.
"It's not really mine. Gram must have put it there because I said to her I'm a movie addict," I replied.
"Oh, now go get popcorn please?" he said.
"Okay spider-boy."
I went downstairs to get the popcorn and Mom was sitting on the sofa in the living room looking happy.
"Someone's happy," I said.
She looked at me and her grin became wider.
"Spill," I said.
"Nuh-uh! It's a surprise. You'll know about it tomorrow," she said
"Mom!" I said, "You know I hate surprises!"
"But you'll love this sweetie," she insisted, "Now go and do whatever you want to do."
I nodded and went to the kitchen to make the popcorn. After it was done, I went straight to my room to start watching the movie.
"So what movie did you pick?" I asked Andrew.
He held up the movie for me to see that it was the first Spiderman movie.
"Spiderman? Really?"
"Really."
He put the dvd in the dvd player and pressed play. We were cuddling in my bed with no awkwardness. The movie ended, but I didn't really focus to it. Instead, I was focusing in the person who is quietly sleeping next to me. He looked so cute.
"Who is?" he asked.
I jumped back because he scared me. "Oh my god! Don't ever do that again!"
"But I didn't do anything," he replied pouting.
"Nuh-uh. But yeah, the movie already ended. Let's hang tomorrow!" I said, "I don't really want to say this, but you need to leave, Mom might get angry when she sees that I slept with a boy," I said. He smirked playfully, "I meant like slept slept, not what's on your mind," I added fast.
He nodded and said, "Okay, see you. Bye," and then he was gone out to the window like a wind. Gosh, he was fast.
