Alby's Sister(Fanfic Maze Runner)

"Good morning sis" I hear Alby say as he shakes me.

"It's too early let me get some more sleep" I beg tiredly while pulling the blanket over my head. This cot is the most uncomfortable thing in the world, but I feel like I haven't slept in days.

"You have to wake up, it's time for breakfast" Alby bribes. I immediately sit up at the word breakfast.

The only thing that can compete with my exhaustion is my hunger. Alby throws clothes my way.

"Here they might be a little bit too big, but we don't have any girl clothes, due to obvious reasons. Oh, and next time the box comes up you can write a note requesting some" He says. He shuts the door and waits for me. I quickly change and follow him to breakfast. The smell of bacon is mouthwatering, I am so hungry. People stare at us when we walk in, but I try to ignore it.

We get our food and sit down, I can't take it anymore I yell "Stop staring! It's weird!"

Everyone chuckles and looks away. 

"Why are they staring?" I whisper to Newt.

He blushes and gives me a funny look "Well you are the only girl, plus you are attractive".

Alby smacks the back of Newt's head as he sits down "That's my baby sister."

Once we are done with breakfast we are all walk to a gathering with the "keepers" (that is what Alby calls them) and me. We have to discuss what the rules are going to be. When we sit down I shift in my seat uncomfortably.

Alby begins the meeting "Anyone want to start us off?"

"I think she should be treated exactly the same as everyone else" Newt says. I give him a little smile.

"I don't want my sister to get hurt though, so some of the jobs she shouldn't be able to do" Alby argues.

"Well what jobs shouldn't she be allowed to do" Zart questions.

"What about she can't be a builder, I know some things can be kinda dangerous" Gally says.

"Yeah, and what about she can't be a bricknick" Frypan adds in.

"Okay, and finally she can't be a runner" Alby says. I'm shocked, but at the same time relieved. I'm annoyed that they are limiting what jobs I can do, but I wouldn't want to be a builder or bricknick anyways. Plus I just got here and I definitely don't want to get on anyone's bad side. Also truthfully, I'm scared of going into the maze, and this gives me an excuse not to. 

"Okay, now that that's cleared up, Abby will you please go outside, while we make the remaining rules" Alby continues.

I roll my eyes but I do as he says and walk outside. Shouldn't I be allowed to be in there while they are making rules concerning me? I got over it because I realize how awkward it would be if you were making rules about someone in front of them.

After the meeting, they tell me I am going to be trying out for the track-hoes first. I walk over to a man who I think is the keeper and introduce myself.

"Hi I'm Abby" I greet while reaching out my hand.

"I'm Zart" he introduces while shaking my hand.

"Lets get started, go down this row and water all the plants" he says while demonstrating.

"Ok easy enough" I reply as I take the bucket.

After I watered the plants I had to harvest, plant, and water the ones I planted. When we finally break for lunch he tells me more about the glade and he threw in a few funny stories about my brother. 

"You can just observe for the rest of the day, you don't look great" he instructs at the end of lunch.

"Hey!" I exclaim, jokingly offended.

"Oh-um-wait-you-great. You look great, you just look tired" Zart fumbles over his words trying to clarify.

"Relax, I'm kidding with you" I laugh.

"You scared me, I really don't want Alby beating me up because I insulted his sister" He explains while laughing. 

As Zart goes back to working, I lay back and "observe." I close my eyes taking in the sunlight.

"Well you're obviously working hard" A voice above me says.

"Very much so, ask Zart" I reply, opening my eyes to see Newt. 

"She's working very hard" Zart nods.

"One day and she's got you turned against me" Newt says baffled.

"What can I say?" Zart chuckles, walking to get more water.

"Come on get up" Newt nudges me with his foot.

"Whyyyyy?" I groan.

"It's time for your tour" He explains.

"Fine." I reply, finally standing up.

We walk over to the forest.

"We call this the deadheads" Newt motions.

"The shade feels nice" I say sitting down.

"It does, but get up, we got a lot more to see" He instructs while walking away.

"Wait up!" 

I jog to catch up to him.

He shows me the homestead and the blood house (definitely not my favorite location)

We finally get back to the garden. 

"Ready to get back to work?" Zart questions.

"If I have to" I joke.

I work for a couple hours before it was time for dinner. 

As I sat down for dinner, I realize how hungry I am. A few of the guys introduce themselves to me throughout dinner, but eventually drags me because he has to "show me something". 

"Why can't you just tell me what it is?" 

"You'll see when we get there" Alby reasons. He leads me to the side of the homestead. As I turn the corner I see a little shack.

"Do you like it?" Alby asked.

"Yes!" I squealed.

"I had the builders working on it all day, I wanted it done by tonight so you didn't have to sleep inside the slammer again" he explains.

"Thank you Alby" I said hugging him.

Inside there was a makeshift bed, a table with a little chair, shelfs, and a small rack for hanging up clothes. 

"It's amazing, I love it" I hug Alby again.

"Can I get one of those?" Newt jokes as he walks up.

Alby rolls his eyes "Cool it or you can be the one to sleep in the slammer".

I tell the guys goodnight and fall asleep in the, surprisingly comfy, tiny makeshift bed.

I am so sorry I didn't realize how long it was until I was looking back over it. I promise from now on none of them will be that long but I hope you like it. I worked on it for a while but I think it turned out well besides the length.
