Chase felt like screaming. He looked around his room to make sure that nothing was out of place. Walls, check. Roof, check. Dogs, check. Chase owned two dogs. Gaming posters, check. Laptop.... Check. Chase was calm, and Esach was quiet. What could be wrong? He crawled out of bed, aching, and opened his laptop, checking the date. Thursday, middle of September. Fun. He opened up his email and woke up Aaron and Jayden. Jayden, an avid writer, was probably already up. Jayden and Chase had been friends for a long time, and trusted each other. Jayden was exactly 5'5", 140. Barely smaller than Chase. Jayden's dark skin and darker hair contrasted sharply with Chase's tan skin and bright blonde hair. He emailed Jayden:

ChaseEnergy: U up?

BlueJayden: Obviously. How's Aaron?

ChaseEnergy: Shut up.

BlueJayden: Make me ;3

ChaseEnergy: Whatever. U know if she's up yet?

IronArin: I'm up. U guys know I can see everything you've said?

BlueJayden: Errr...

ChaseEnergy:... Whatever. Anybody not coming to class?

BlueJayden: Does probably being tardy count?

IronArin: I'm coming.

ChaseEnergy: 'Kay. See u guys at class?

IronArin: Mmkay. ;D

BlueJayden: Baiiiiiiii

Aaron, a girl with a boy's name, was slightly smaller than both of them. But she, if the need arose, could keep up in a fight. Chase had bruises to show that she could. They were all 'nerds' as they were so often coined, but Chase was a second-string striker on the soccer team and a starting point guard on the basketball team. Aaron was thinking of joining either the basketball team or the soccer team. Jayden... Chase wasn't sure if he did sports. Chase got dressed, and grabbed his already in-order backpack, grabbed a protein shake, a water, and a bag of chips, and headed out of the door. He rode his bike to school, an hour bike ride if he booked it and used all of the shortcuts. Chase had left around six thirty, though, so he had some wiggle room. Chase's parents were away for the week, and he was fairly OK with that. Jayden's mom was over-protective, and nobody knew who his father was. He came from a fairly broken home. Aaron's dad, like Chase's, was always going on business trips. Jayden and Chase had never actually met her parents. Jayden wasn't exactly suspicious, but, as Aaron and Jayden knew, Chase was suspicious of almost everything. Once Chase arrived at Jayden's house, he texted him.

Chase: I'm here, get your bottle-neck out here.

Jayden: I don't have a bottle neck... ;-;

Chase: Just come out here.

Jayden walked out of the door, hi mom glaring at Chase as he flipped his hair to the side, out of his eyes. Jayden's mom did not like Chase. Jayden hopped on his bike, and they rode to Aaron's house. They didn't actually talk, they used their phones.

Chase: Ur knocking on door dis time

Jayden: Nuuuuu, u do it.

Chase: I did it last time. And the time before. AND the time before that.

Jayden: Ur still doing it, Aaron's babysitter hates me.

Chase: Its not a babysitter, it's a maid

Jayden: Same thing

Chase: Nah, not really.

Jayden: Ur doing it.

Chase: Fine.I crie everitiem.

When they finally got there, Aaron was already outside, but... something was off. Her usual happy attitude was... Tainted, almost. She saw them, then motioned them over hurriedly. Chase glanced at Jayden. They slammed on the brakes and put up their bikes in the garage. Aaron's mom was a work and her dad was out of town. She led them inside, eventually to her room. Her walls were plastered with PewDiePie posters. She locked the door with the three locks that her dad had installed.

"You guys are not gonna believe what I found," She said, her tone of voice making it clear that they were to tell no one. Chase and Jayden glanced at each other. She walked over to her desk, which was locked with even more locks than the door. Aaron liked her privacy. Esach was screaming at Chase that something was wrong, and for once, Chase agreed. She undid the locks, and took out a few syringes.

"Drugs? You found drugs, and you thought it was so exciting to get high, that you made us skip school?" Jayden said, throwing his arms in the air in confusion. Chase elbowed him.

"Why do I think that those aren't syringes of dope?" Chase said, skeptical. She spoke, her voice filled with sarcasm.

"Dope doesn't come in syringes, loser." She said, inches from facepalming.

"There are three of us, but four syringes... Why are there four? Planning on getting super-high, Aaron?" Jayden commented.

"Smoke weed erryday..." Chase muttered.

"Oh, yeah! I forgot to tell you that I met somebody when I found these thingies." She motioned to the couch in her room. Jayden slapped his forehead. Chase's mouth was inches from touching the floor. Aaron did a strange-looking bow and waved her hand at the kid sitting on the couch. He was pecking away at a keyboard, his fingers moving at a dizzying speed. He was pale but solid, and had light brown hair, and was wearing dark jeans and an all-black tee. He looked up, his dark blue eyes scanning over Chase and Jayden in an instant. "Meet Pax. He's our age, so I thought he could come along!"

"Where, exactly, are we going?" Chase asked, Jayden nodding.

"We...Are going to the woods!" Aaron said, throwing her arms in the air.
