Nami's P.O.V.
I watch myself vanish into the halls and sigh, he truly didn't want anything to do with me and I couldn't catechize him for that. We said things that would make another human take their own life that very night but with us, we knew that it was just to much of a risk to do that.
Tamaki joins at my side smiling softly.
"Don't worry Nami-Chan, he'll adjust....that's just our Kyoya. Cold, desalinate.-"
"And I made him that way." I mutter feeling Haruhi's hand on my shoulder.
"What do you mean?"
I glance at her, happy, collected as if this was her family. I envied her, that happy look she always carried, no worries and it wasn't even forced. She was happy and I was left to fake my smile and laugh for the sake of the Family name.
"Kyoya use to beam, like you. He was always happy to help someone and it showed everywhere he went. He'd give to the poor, help children when they were hurt, help the elderly, it was just all he did. Everything was so...sweet and he didn't even have to think twice to do so. After our fight however he became cold and distant, his name faded from the streets as sweet and turned to words such as Scary, Different, Cold, Distant and on. If that fight was non-existent he'd still be so happy...like you all."
Tamaki pondered on that, he met Kyoya first year of High School and Kyoya was quite nice at that time. He had seen how Kyoya grew much more silent, his eyes could find a life story just by a stare.
"Don't be to hard on yourself. Everyone changes throughout life." Haruhi commented.
"Besides....maybe Kyoya wasn't actually happy. His father has taken him for granted for some great time and that shows in his desperate need to work or the bruises he sometimes comes in with."
I bit my lip, remembering those times. Where Kyoya would come to here, his face less happy. How he insist those marks were not from his father but he fell or something. Yoshio was a very strict man, looking for greatness in all of his kids, testing them to the limits to see if they were brave and intelligent enough to work around it. Kyoya was. Yoshio just wanted to raise the stakes even higher because Kyoya had dreams that many couldn't reach and he was determined to do so, even if it meant countless nights without sleep.
Kyoya was magical.
One of the twins glanced at the clock.
"It's seven now...we better get home!"
One by one, Host after Host left to their homes, leaving me myself in a darkened room.
'Come on, use your legs and walk' I thought as I left herself, down empty night filled hallways. The moon round in the sky, gleaming into the hall's. Stars scattering the sky, dancing with the songs of the crickets. Grass swaying peacefully in slumber. Everything was so sweet and tranquil it almost relaxed me.
Through the streets I walked, hands in the pocket of my pea coat listening to the sympathy of mixed sounds, crickets, grass swaying, cars and my footsteps. Until I heard a voice, soft and welcoming but the lyrics when heard were so much more intriguing. Either way, it was much more than a song.
'Listen close to the winds. Does it seem to whisper prayers? Will it stick with your mind, can I erase back the time?
'Here we are day to day with the daily routine. Hide your feelings, swallow your pride, place it all behind that same facade.'
'There's no day when I don't doubt, there's no day when I wish time would stop. I'm not even sure, who I am anymore...but maybe you bring out the better of me.'
'Hear my voice, her my words. Does it seem any different, do my words vanish from your mind? Can I erase back the time?'
'Here we are with the same routine, can't be changed with a flick of a wrist. Wish you'd see that I never meant to hurt you with my words.'
'Hear my voice, hear my words. Does it seem any different, do my words vanish from your mind? Can I wear back the time?'
I bit my lip and peak through the bushes, seeing Kyoya lying against a tree, the moon reflecting around him, birds cry at his song. Was this really how he felt? Who was this for...? I walk over and watch as he glanced up.
"Did you write that?" I ask trying to remember each verse.
"I did..." He mumbled as if embarrassed at spilling his emotions through song when somebody heard.
"Kyoya..." I begin sitting down next to him. He stands though brushing himself off.
"It's late, I should get home...there's many things that can't be held back any longer." He walks off, leaving me alone again.
Kyoya's P.O.V.
On my way home I wonder, how long had to been standing there or did she know that song was for her?
I shake those thoughts as I arrive what I use to call home, 'Please let everyone be asleep' I pray as I try my best to shut the doors as quiet as possible.
The lights flicker on and I curse silently before turning to see my father and Mr. Shirihata sitting in the white couches.
"Son..? Care to explain why you were late?"
"The Host Club kept me, forgive me."
I feel myself worry when my father smiles, he never smiles.
"Youngest Ootori, it is my honor to tell you my daughter is engaged."
I nod once.
"I congratulate your family and that wonderful news Mr. Shirihata."
My father's smile turns smug as he crosses a leg over the other, hands clasped in his lap.
"Would you like to know who the suitor is..?"
"I'm guessing another well known company..."
My father stands and walks over, placing a hand on my shoulder. I try not to wince and glance over to Mr. Shirihata.
"You are the suitor, Kyoya. You're engaged."
The air sweeps out of me like I've lost my soul completely. My heartbeat quickens as I force a fake smile.
"It seems I don't fully understand.."
Nami's father stands and joins my father both smiling softly at me, a mixture of happiness and smug.
"You'll be marrying my daughter when your both done with school, we might shorten the date and might wed you two even while your in school."
I nod and feel myself try to break the words that threaten to make themselves heard.
"T-Thank you sir, for bestowing upon me, your daughter's hand."
Both nod and let me retreat to my room, I shut the door and lean against it.
I'm engaged to a woman who despises me and has every right to. Does she know about this?
(HI EVERYONE! I hope you're enjoying the story so far! Now, as can tell we changed some things up, Tamaki didn't meet Kyoya till High School and Kyoya was nice until his second year. Another thing, the song Kyoya sings is one I wrote much like my life as well as Kyoya's. No copyright on the song please since I worked very hard on it. There will be a YouTube video of me singing it soon enough, which I will post on this chapter. Until then enjoy the chapter!)
