I don't know why my eye was missing. I asked Yukina and she said that only Yukine knew. I decided to ask him
"Why don't I have an eye? I can see through the hole of my new eye that's processing but... It still hurts" I said.
He looked at me then sighed.
" in order to revive you again your eye became Yukina, your second soul. They say eyes are the gate way to them." He told me.
I stopped and thought about it. He was right. I looked at Yukina, she bowed deeply apologising.
"I'm sorry Ame-sama!" She weeped.
I patted her head in forgiveness.
"It's fine, you are what make me special, I have two of you to take care of me! That makes me happy!" I said.
She smiled kindly and nodded.
"Aren't you hungry?" Yukine asked. I looked at him surprisingly. I never thought about food until now.
"Uhm... maybe?" I said. *growl* my stomach made a really loud noise.
"Haha..." I murmured.
"Let's see which creature you are now, we can tell by your senses of food." Yukine said as he got up from the floor.
"W-Wait!" I exclaimed. "Do people know I died?"
Yukina tilted her head. "No."
I looked at her. "All they know is that you were in the hospital due to an accident. We made sure you are able to keep your life even if you're dead." She said.
"It's the first job of a familiar, to make you a harder target for monster hunters." He said.
That's right.
I'm a monster now.
I rubbed my left eye. "Will my eye ever return to normal?" I asked.
They both nodded no. I looked at the reflection of myself in a nearby cracked mirror. I can do this, I'll be okay.
"Hmmm..." Yukina mumbled. "Ame-sama... you have blood on your uniform..."
I looked down at my clothes. My back was warm from blood.
I broke my back.
The top in the front near my face had it splattered.
My neck was bitten from shiki and my eye gored out by Yukine.
"I guess you're right... I can't go out like this! I'll look like a maniac." I said.
Yukine and Yukina nodded in agreement.
"Well let's go find someone for you to eat." Said Yukine.
He got up and started his way to the door.
"But... My clothes?" I said.
He looked at me. "It's fine. No one will see you."
No one will notice.
I made a puzzled expression. What's that suppose to mean? I shrugged and followed them both outside. It was sunny. Midday. I blinked trying to adjust my eyes. I rubbed them.
"Not a Shiki." Yukine said. Yukina nodded in agreement. I looked around, abandoned buildings. "They both took me here to hide me, I am very thankful. I need to find a way to repay them." I thought to myself. Suddenly a heard screaming in the distance. My eye reacted in a strange way.
"What's wrong?" Yukina asked. I was on the ground covering my ears.
"A scream..." I murmured.
"I didn't hear it." Yukine said. He looked at me, observing me. "Let's go." He said and grabbed my right arm. "Yes!" Yukina exclaimed and grabbed my left arm. Left eye, left arm. My left eye was the one gauged out. It made sense. They lifted me off of the ground into the air. It felt thrilling, I didn't scream but I let out a cry of enjoyment. I felt calm.
"There!" Yukine pointed at a man who was walking alone in the ally way.
"Don't worry, he's a criminal." Yukina said.
"Uhm... okay?"I said in confusion.
"Eat him then." Yukine told me.
Eat him.
"What?!" I exclaimed. He looked at me with a serious face.
"The way you hunt him will tell us what creature you are." He calmly said. Yukina nodded in agreement. My eye began to hurt. Before I knew it I jumped off the roof towards the criminal.
Hungry.
I was really hungry and my body moved on it's own. It was my creature instinct.
I bit onto the neck of the man. He screamed but my bite cut him off. It tasted amazing.
"Now we know..." Yukine said as he came down next to me with Yukina following him.
"You're a ghoul."
