"Oh look, Joel! It's a stray kitten!" Lizzie pointed. Joel was busy checking his phone.
Lizzie stared at Joel, pretend angrily. "Jooooel," she whined. Joel glanced at her with a smirk. Lizzie laughed.
"Liiiizzie," Joel whined back. Lizzie put her puppy face on and pointed at the sleeping kitty.
"I want that cat," Lizzie said, arms crossed.
"What if it belongs to someone else? Maybe it's someone's lost cat?" Joel said. He pulled Lizzie's arm and left.
"Wait, Joel!" Lizzie stomped.
"What is it Lizzie? We're gonna be late for the reunion!" Joel said, face red and eyebrows raised.
"If this was someone else's cat then why wouldn't his owner give out 'Missing Cat' posters? Why does the box say 'Put To a Better Home'? Why is the cat dirty and unmaintained? We NEED to do something!" Lizzie cried. Tears filled up in her eyes.
Joel had no other choice. He cleared Lizzie's tears and grabbed the box. "Let's stop by our flat and keep the cat there for safety. Then, we can go to the reunion," Joel said and he kissed Lizzie's forehead. "Ok?"
"Ok," Lizzie said, blushing. "Be safe, lil' Buddy,"
They stopped by their flat and kept the cat there. Lizzie took a purple Sharpie, drew hearts on the box and wrote, 'Lil Buddy's Magic Palace'.
"It might need some fixing to do to make it a safe shelter," Joel said.
"Hey, Joel," Lizzie whispered. "Shh, he's sleeping,"
"Oh, alright, let's go to the reunion," Joel whispered.
They tiptoed out the door, Lizzie giggling. "All for this little cat of ours," Lizzie softly said. They left the flat, quietly closing the door.
"What are you gonna call him?" Joel asked.
"Lil Buddy. Or just Buddy for short," Lizzie replied.
"Lil Buddy," Joel said. "I like that." Lizzie giggled and they left the flat.
