Chapter 5- The Way it Ended

There was no warning. There were so many signs, but never a warning.

She always told me that I didn't deserve what I didn't already have, that I shouldn't do things she did. If she joined a cheer team I had to be on a different one. She told me 'It's so we can make friends and learn to function without each other.' The truth, however, was that she was jealous and she didn't want me to be better than her.

When I wised up to her tricks, I signed up for teams that were better than her team but didn't practice in the same gyms or on the same fields. She tried so hard to get me to stop altogether, and when I didn't, she stopped being friends with me. She probably knew that in high school either one of us would have to quit, or we would have to be on the same team. She couldn't have that so she tried to bully me into quitting. She even tried to injure me so much so that I wouldn't be able to participate in anything.

When I decided to go abroad, she was thrilled. She threw a literal party. She didn't even 'invite' me, she just threw a party to celebrate the fact that I was leaving. We were in eighth grade for gods sake.
