"I don't know about this guys..." "Nonsense Jeanette!" Brittney chimed, "You look absolutely fabulous!" "Uh thanks but are you sure? I really don't think prom is for me." "Jeanette, you just HAVE to go to prom! It's the biggest event of the school year!" I replied with a sigh, "Easy for you to say... You're actually pretty..." Eleanor immediately responded as she walked in, "Jeanette, don't say that! You're very pretty." "No I'm not." Brittney gave me a disapproving look. "And why do you think so?" She said as she crossed her arms. I don't know why, but suddenly I felt a little nervous. "Well plenty of people have called you pretty, but not me. I'm hardly noticed." Maybe it was because of Brittney's disapproving look. "Really Jeanette? You gotta be kidding me. We are your sisters and your friends and we told you about a billion times that you look pretty just the way you are." Eleanor was starting to catch on, "Brittney, I don't think that's what she means." Brittney immediately yelled back, confusedly, "Then what is it?!" I looked down. I was starting to catch on too. Eleanor must've given her a look that said it all because then Brittney calmed down and said, "oh... I didn't think you cared if boys liked you Jeanette... I'm so sorry." "Its alright Brittney. I just wish someone would notice me... And truly like me as who I am..." "Jeanette, I'm sure there's at least one guy that likes you for who you are," Eleanor said reassuringly, "maybe you just haven't met him yet." "Or have you?" Brittney said with a smirk on her face that guaranteed that she wanted to hear me spill my guts, "is there any boy is particular?" Now I know why I was so nervous and still am. She might be my sister, but what if she tells someone? There's no way I'm telling her who. "Well... maybe..." "TELL ME!!! tell me, tell me, tell me, tell me, TELL ME!" Brittney shouted out. "Brittney! Calm down! She doesn't need to tell us if she doesn't want to, right Jeanette?" Eleanor stated. I nodded, agreeing and watched Brittney's willingness to learn turn to annoyance. "Fine, you win Jeanette. Now let's go or we're gonna be late," Brittney said as she started walking out the door. Eleanor followed right after. "You coming Jeanette?" She asked. "Yeah just give me a minute." "Ok," Eleanor said as she walked out and closed the door behind her. I looked in the mirror one last time before leaving. Then I whispered to myself, "I just hope he notices me..."
