Meanwhile...
"Alvin!" "Brittney!" "We need to talk!" We both said at once. "You go first," I said, being a gentleman. "It's about Jeanette, and you?" "It's about Simon, he's getting all the attention..." Brittney interrupted me, "Exactly!! Jeanette stole my spotlight!! How could she trip just by walking in?? We have to get the attention back to me!" "Same here with Simon! How was he able to steal my attention from the popular girls, the POPULAR girls! He's not even popular!" "How are our nerd siblings taking over prom?" "I don't know Brittney but we HAVE to get our spotlight back!" "But how?!" Brittney exclaimed, throwing her arms in the air to be more dramatic. I rolled my eyes. Suddenly, we heard a familiar voice, "I know how." We turned around, "Jenny?" Brittney wanted to hear the plan right away, "Alright then, tell us how." She crossed her arms and spoke like this was important business, "I'll tell ya this, the problem is that Simon caught Jeanette and they were making goo goo eyes at each other." She sounded kind of annoyed. "Everyone likes romance scenes, that's why you have to keep them away from each other." I frowned. Keep them away? But Simon... "How are we supposed to do that?" I asked. "I'll take care of Simon for you. I'll make sure to keep him away from Jeanette," she said, suddenly giving us a weird grin. Keep Simon away from Jeanette on his big chance? Could I do that? Wait a minute. "But Simon was popular by himself too, what are we supposed to do about that?" "Look Alvin, don't worry about it. I'll take care of it..." Brittney interrupted her, "so then how do we, I mean I, get the attention after? What if Jeanette gets the attention again?" Jenny gave us a smirk and I knew she was about to say something that wasn't gonna be ideal, "Simple. People like romance scenes, you give them one!" "What?!" We both yelled at once. Jenny sighed liked this was all nothing, "Don't you get it? You two should dance together during the slow dance. That will really stir up the crowd and it could help you win prom king and queen!" "But..." She cut me off, "but what? Don't you want the spotlight? I'm even helping you! Is it a deal or not?" "Well..." I looked to Brittney, cueing her to answer. "I-I guess..." She sighed. "It's a deal!" The second Brittney answered, the grin on Jenny's face grew from ear to ear, "good choice." She said as she walked away to find Simon. For once, I have a bad feeling about this and its not even because of the dancing with Brittney thing. Simon really liked Jeanette and this was his chance to dance with her and I think I just ruined it. Am I doing the right thing? Is popularity worth it? Well at least I'm dancing with Brittney, I mean I totally didn't want to but you know, I'm doing her a favor. Speaking of Brittney, I looked over at her, she didn't look to happy about this either. "Brittney? You ok?" She quickly snapped out of it, looked at me, and said, "oh yeah, I'm alright. I'm just worried about Jeanette." She tried to correcting herself, "I mean! I'm worried about Jeanette taking over but I know that won't happen because we'll definitely win prom king and queen! And just for the record, I'm not dancing with you because I want to, so you better not mess this up!" She paused, "hehe... " That sounded so fake. I think she's also not so sure on keeping Jeanette away from Simon. So does what mean Jeanette likes Simon? Wait. Hold up. If she's faking, is she actually happy to dance with me? Gasp! Does she like me?! Not that I care... Oh here come Simon and Jeanette! And there goes Jenny... Sigh. "Come on Brittney, let's get ready." She snapped out of it again. "What! Oh yeah, sorry Alvin. Yeah let's go."
