"Simon!" Theodore shouted as he rushed into the boy's bathroom and looked around to find me. "I'm so humiliated..." I mumbled under my breath, looking up at my already short younger brother. He knelt down next to me. "There's no reason to be humiliated Simon." "Theodore you don't understand... I... I really like Jeanette and I just made a huge fool in front of her and everyone else." "Oh... Well if you like her, isn't that a good thing that she fell in your arms?" "Well yeah but not in front of everyone..." I said as I looked away, "you see, Theodore, I'm kind of..." I was rubbing my neck slightly nervous, "shy..." "Oh so is that why you didn't talk to her and couldn't get past her name?" "Hehe... Yeah... I was too distracted..." I said, my voice getting lower, hoping Theodore didn't hear that last part. "Distracted?" Oh course he heard. "By what?" He looked confused. "Well she just looked so beautiful and her eyes glistened and..." Theodore looked at me surprised. Great. Even in front of my brother do I make a fool of myself. "Well then why are you in here? You should've asked her to dance. I mean you're Simon Seville. You always speak with confidence when correcting Alvin." "Alvin's immaturity and Jeanette's beauty and sweetness are two different things Theo. I want to ask Jeanette if she'd like to dance with me but I couldn't do it before and I can't now because I definitely humiliated her..." I looked down. There was no way that she would dance with me now... "You didn't totally mess up Simon. You still have a chance. I mean at least you caught her and..." He took a moment to think. "And what if she likes you back?" I froze again at the critical question that Theodore brought up. "I can't even think about that and quick frankly I don't want to find out. I mean what if the answer is no? That would absolutely break my heart." I just noticed that I was speaking my thoughts out loud as I heard Theodore start saying, "Simon, I never knew you were so sensitive... I've never seen this part of you." How do I keep managing to embarrass myself? "I think you should go out there and ask Jeanette to dance with you and tell her how you feel." "Do you think she'll even listen to me?" "Simon don't be ridiculous, of course she will! She's your friend." "If you say so Theodore." Theodore got up and pulled me up with him. As we walked out the door, I decided to thank my ever so kind brother, "Thanks Theo." "No problem Simon," he said smiling. As soon as I stepped out, I saw Jeanette standing outside the boys bathroom. What was she doing here? "Simon!" She said, finally becoming alert that I walked out. "Jeanette?" "I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to trip! And fall into your arms... Hehe... I'm sooo sorry! I didn't mean to embarrass you. Are you ok? Oh Simon, I'm so sorry!" She's not mad? "Y-yeah I'm fine. Wait why are you apologizing? Aren't you mad at me for embarrassing you?" "No, of course not! I always embarrass myself because I'm a klutz... I'd think you'd notice by now." "Oh... Yeah..." "S-so... We're still friends right?" "Of course we are Jeanette." I was smiling. I'm so happy we're still friends. "Oh and thanks for uh catching me, Simon." She gave me a warm smile. I feel like melting. She thanked me. "Oh hehe... Uh it was no problem, nothing really..." I grinned nervously. She just thanked me. She mumbled her next sentence, "I-I'm glad it was you and n-not someone else, Simon." I can't believe what she's saying. This is too good to be true. She was happy that I caught her. This is so amazing. Maybe she does like me. "So uh, wanna go back now?" "Y-yeah." I felt her warm hand slip into mine as we were walking back. This is so enchanting. I can't believe this is happening.
