It's strange how I understood what he had said on the phone. He had said hello old friend, I had never practiced or learned any other languages but somehow I knew he was speaking Latin. I could still hear his voice but it was becoming faint the further away he walked. I walked toward the front door staying quiet, if I strained my ears hard enough I could make out what he was saying.
"Num invenisti eum?" I heard the other person say. They were looking for someone, a guy to be specific but who could it be? I pressed my ear close to the door to get a better hearing angle. Not that it helped much but I always saw the people in movies do it.
"Nec tamen, haec villa quae proxime ad plenum posse contegere veneficas. Mox inveniam illum et adducite." Connors deep voice responded, every word he said sounded so hot and sexy the way his low husky voice pronounced every single word. No stay focus Lucy, I told myself. I couldn't get distracted right now in the enemies house. Connor was here to find someone and take them back wherever he came from; I needed to find out whoever it was first so I could have some leverage over him and protect my family.
I heard footsteps approaching from behind, it was Kourtney.
"You know it's rude to listen in on people's conversation." She said in a quiet voice. I turned around to glare at her. I was angry at her for not standing up to Connor but who was I to judge her when I coward down towards him too. Her gaze dropped down to her shoes in a nervous manner.
"You should get out of here before he comes back in Lucy and finds out you were eavesdropping." I didn't have to be told twice but I stopped myself from rushing out of their house.
"Kourtney why do you...? She didn't even let me finish my sentence before she cut me off.
"He's my brother okay, where in dangerous territory here with the witches he's just trying to protect me." She was quick to defend, I now understood why he was so aggressive but now i had more unanswered questions. I would do the same for my sister if we were in a situation like there's.
"I'm sorry." I don't know why I was apologizing but it felt like the right thing to do. Giving her a small smile which she returned I turned around opening the door and dashed down the road towards my house as fast as my feet could take me. It took me like five seconds to get home. I rushed up the steps to the porch, we kept a spare of keys underneath a flower pot we had beside the door. Reaching down I lifted the pot, grabbing the keys I unlocked the door and quickly rushed inside locking the door behind me. A sigh of relief escaped my lips, I was safe inside no one could get in unless they were invited in. I was glad my mother had been persistent about placing a protection spell around our home, when she first brought it up I thought it was silly considering I was a vampire I could easily tear into anyone but now with vampires stronger than me next door I had to be careful.
Pulling my coat off I made my way into the kitchen, placing it on the counter I walked toward the fridge pulling out a blood bag. Somehow from all the blood I consumed it didn't make me stronger on the contrary it made me more thirsty I didn't understand why. I barely got any information from Kourtney so that didn't help either. Luck must not me on my side today I thought. Pouring the blood into a cup I sipped from it calming the burning sensation in my throat. I walked out of the kitchen and upstairs to my room, I didn't feel like being around anyone right now so I'm just going to stay here instead of going back to my sisters house. I decided to take a shower to calm my nerves, I headed into my huge bathroom stripping down my clothes and walked in a leisurely pace to the shower, steam filling the room as i cut the shower on. I stepped under the large shower spray closing the glass door behind me, the hot water soothing my aching muscles as it fell on me cascading down my back like a river. I must of stayed at least an hour in there because by the time I came out it was around noon. I took my time patting my self dry before walking out into the closet.
Hmm... what to wear? I scanned the rows of clothing. I wanted to wear a dress, I opted for a white and blue dress with black strips that reached above my knees. Once I put the dress on I choose some black flats to go with it because where I was headed I would have to walk through the forest to get to my destination. I pinned my hair back and grabbing my purse I headed downstairs and out the door to the garage. I looked at my cars, I owned a blood red jeep wrangler, a red mini cooper, and my personal favorite my red Ferrari. I just loved the color red so much, probably because it reminds you of blood my subconscious thought. I smiled that was true. I decide to take the Jeep since I would be driving through some dirt roads and I didn't want to get my other baby's dirty.
