Chapter 5

A/U: I'm so very sorry. I haven't updated in like 2 months. I thought no one liked the story. I'm aware I have nearly 50 reads, which I'm very happy about, but no one really told me any opinions. I'm updating because of the lovely @2ndrunner who motivated me to write chapter 5. So, here you go.

Amethyst's POV

Her fragile body limp on a hospital bed, connected to all these monitors was the last thing I wanted to see. Tears started forming in my eyes, but I knew I had to stay strong for her siblings.

"Will sissy be okay?" Bea sniffled. I looked at the doctor, then to Sapphire, and then Bea.

"Yes" was all I said. I looked at the doctor, and his face showed that my words were the wrong ones. "She's strong. She loves you guys. She won't leave you"

"What about you?" Chris asked. I looked at him.

"She's known me for a few days. She doesn't love me. She loves you three, not me" I whispered to myself.

"She should be waking up soon. Good news is, she doesn't have any amnesia. Bad news is, there's a 75-25% chance of life and death. Luckily, she's more likely to live" and with that, the doctor left.

It's been about an hour and a half since I saw her. I took the kids outside for a few minutes and got them food from the cafeteria. I was currently sitting in the hospital room talking to Chris. Bea and Benjy were asleep in chairs.

"I have a question" Chris said.
"Okay, ask away" I answered.
"Are you homophobic?" He asked, looking at the ground.
"No, I'm gay" I simply said.
"Really??" He asked relieved.
"Yep" I reassured. "Why? You got a boy crush?" I asked, wiggling my eyebrows. He giggled.
"I've actually only ever had boy crushes. I've just never told anyone. I try liking girls, but it just doesn't work" he sighed.
"Hey, don't try and fit in. You're great. I'm sure any guy would go gay for you, if they already aren't" I replied.
"Do you think I'm too young?" He looked at me.
"To figure out your sexuality? Absolutely not. I came out when I was 11" I smiled.
"Amethyst" he said.
"yea?" I replied.
"I'm gay"

Those two words made both of us so happy. Not only did he have the courage to come out, but he came out to someone he had just met earlier that day.

"Chris I'm so proud of you!" I exclaimed, hugging him.

After about 10 minutes of Chris explaining everything to me, Sapphire started to wake up. Chris and I both got up from our chairs and rushed over to her.

"Where am I?" She mumbled. "Chris! Amefyst!" she said, yawning as she said my name.

"I'll get the doctor" Chris said. He walked out of the room to get the doctor.

I grabbed Sapphire's hand.
"Amethyst" she said.
"Yea?" I replied.
"Am I going to an orphanage?" she asked.
"You're 18, right?" I mentioned. She nodded in response.
"If we put our money together, we could have enough to pay for an apartment. I'm working three jobs, so I get payed enough" I answered. Sapphire smiled.
"Can't you just move in with me and my siblings? Mom won't be coming back" she said.
"I'll try"

Chris and the doctor walked in. He checked Sapphire. She would only have to stay for two to three more days. The twins woke up and talked to her.

"It's getting late" Chris pointed towards the clock on the wall.
"I'm 5, I can't read time" Benjy said, holding up 4 fingers.
"It's 10:27" Chris said, pinching the bridge of his nose.

It's been two days since Sapphire was emitted into the hospital. We ended up sleeping in the hospital room. My dad hadn't called or texted me, so I'm not sure if he knows I'm gone or not. Sapphire's mom was arrested for child abuse and molestation. Apparently she raped a fifteen year old boy before sapphire was born. Luckily, the police have given us permission to stay at sapphires house, as long as we can pay for it. I had enough money saved up to pay for atleast five months, with money left over. Sapphire is working one job, but looking for another one. Chris is thirteen, so he's old enough to watch the twins when we work. It feels great when you have time figured out.

I was awoken from my slumber by Bea jumping on my stomach.
"Wakey wakey! We get to leave today" she squealed. I let out a laugh and got up. Sapphire was talking to a doctor. Chris was holding Benjy back from touching all the wires.

"Sapphire, Amethyst, you two will be responsible for these three kids. You will be their guardians. Got it?" The doctor stated. We both nodded. "Okay. Now get outta here and go live your life!"

I picked up Bea, placing her on my hip. Chris was holding Benjy. I had my arm firmly placed around Sapphire's hip, knowing she was still a little weak.

We got outside and started heading towards the subway. In this city, there was really no need for cars, everyone used public transportation. We made it to the station and there was a cart open, so we went inside. There were only two seats, so I made sapphire sit with Bea on her lap, and Chris sit with Benjy on his lap. I could stand, it won't hurt me. Sapphire knew there was no reason to argue, so she just followed what I said.

I felt my phone buzz in my pocket. I grabbed it out and looked at the screen.

Unknown number: where u at bish. I no ur not hear

My heart skipped a beat. Before I could have a panic ((at the disco)) attack, I blocked the number. I looked up from my phone, putting it back in my pocket, to see sapphire braiding Bea's hair. Benjy was rambling about what he learned at school on Friday. Since it was Sunday, we all had school tomorrow. Benjy and Bea are in kindergarten, Chris was in eighth grade, and sapphire and me are seniors. I want to go to college for computer programming, and sapphire said she wants to be an astrologer. ((Zodiac and astrology stuff interests me sooo))

I felt a tug on my jacket. I looked down to see a little girl, no older than the twins, looking up at me with her big green eyes.
"What's wrong?" I asked, bend down so I could look at her better.
"I can't find my daddy" she sniffled.
"Don't cry, it'll be okay. We will find him. Was he on here when you got on here?" I asked. She nodded. That's good.

Before I could start looking around, a male came shoving through everyone. He was about to open his mouth, when I realized who it was. It was Michael Clifford. 1/4 of the people who bully me. He looked down at the little girl. He grabbed her hand aggressively telling her something along the lines of 'don't talk to fags'. I just looked at sapphire with wide eyes. She shared the same expression.

We made it back to Sapphire's house. There was no more broken glass on the ground, assuming the police picked it up. It was 3:17, so the day was still young, but what did we decide to do? Order a pizza and spend the rest of the day watching disney movies.
