The beeping sound of my phone proved me wrong in the morning.
I slowly opened my eyes to the blinding light; I had forgotten to close the curtains before I went to bed. I must have been in a daze. I picked up my phone slowly and opened the text message...
'Hey Amy! I really enjoyed myself last night and would love to see you again! Today? xx'
I had a sudden rush go through my body as I pressed the reply button.
'hey! I really enjoyed myself too! Yes, today is absolutely fine! I will be ready in about an hour xx'
His reply came back straight away. So he was fast as well.
'Oh sorry did I wake you up? Take as long as you need x'
'no, no it’s fine I'm just lazy! See you later!'
With that I got up and ran to the shower. I washed and cleaned myself quickly and ran into my room again to towel myself and dry my hair. I shoved on the best clothes I could find in my messy wardrobe and attempted to tame my tangles hair in the mirror. When my annoying hair was finally straight and smooth form the shower I began to relax and sunk onto my bed, letting my heart begin at its normal pace again.
Why was I trying so hard for a boy that I'd only known not even a day? Did I really like him, or was it just a harmless friendship?
I heard a light tap on the door. He was fifteen minutes early! I hadn't even had breakfast! I calmed myself by taking deep breaths and lightly padded down the stairs and yanked the door open not wanting to keep him waiting.
"Hey!" he said cheerily.
"Hey, come in" I mumbled, embarrassed.
He walked in and looked at me.
"You look.....nice" He said kindly.
"Thank you" I mumbled again. I walked to the kitchen, put the kettle and got a box of coco pops out. "Do you want anything?" I asked, smiling up at him.
"Yes please, could I have a coffee?"
"Sure, want anything else?"
"Nah, I'm alright thanks."
I put the cereal back in the cupboard and poured the coffee in the cup. I moved into the living room, Niall following after me. I gestured for him to sit down on the sofa and he did. He took a sip out of his coffee and winced.
"It's hot," I warned too late.
He chuckled. "Well, I know that now! So I was wondering if you would like to come out to dinner with me tonight?" he said swiftly changing the conversation.
"I barely know you." His face dropped. "But," I continued. "You only live once and I want to be friends with you...... If that’s what you want." I said.
"Of course I want to be friends with you!" He exclaimed. Then he added. "I'm not the type of guy who just goes around asking every girl to be his friend, you know." I laughed.
"Whatever" I said.
We were silent for a moment; he tried to keep up the conversation.
"So what about that dinner tonight" he said. "Only if you want to..."
"Yes, I would love to."
"Okay so I'll come and pick you up tonight then? Half sixish?"
"Sure, see you then, “I said showing him the way to the door. "Thanks so much, it'll feel lovely to get out, especially with you" I added. His whole face lit up when I said that last sentence.
"See you later!" He said grinning showing his perfect teeth which now had no braces.
As soon as the door was shut and I'd had my breakfast I got to work, I was going to have to look at least half decent tonight...
