Fire With Fire - Chapter 6

ANAYA

'YOU', said Avil and I at the same time. I narrowed my eyes at him and he did the same.

'Stop imitating me, Peaches', I growled in anger and annoyance.

'Oh! Did I upset or annoy you Princess? I'm sure that you know by now that annoying, troubling and angering you is the only reason I wake up every morning', Avil said.

'Oh Peaches! You're flattering me. Oh and likewise', I said.

'Babe, now you're flattering me', Avil said as though he had just won some lottery price, but now, he said it with a smirk rather than a smile. It was a troublemaker smirk that I'd grown to hate all these years.

'Don't call me that', I hissed.

Maybe I forgot to mention that this was happening in the school corridor during lunch, so, every student and teacher was watching with interest as a tennis match of words started between Avil and I. I also forgot to mention something else. Yeah, remember when I said that I knew Avil was going to attack me with his set of pranks and I planned too retaliate with my own set of pranks.

Yeah well, it was today. You must be thinking, how bad could it be. Well, Avil and I chose to prank each today, at the same time. So what happened, you ask?! A big disaster that's what.

You see, the Principal never got involved in any matter unless it was very bad. I'm talking, Japan earthquake + tsunami type of terrible. Also, the staff of the school knew not to mess with Avil and I, and believe me when I say, they learned that the hard way. That was the only time Avil's gang and me gang worked together. It was only to teach the staff a lesson not to interfere in Anaya and Avil's matters. Now the staff is shit scared of us, excluding the Principal. That bald-headed, short-tempered idiot cannot take a joke. So, only he's pending.

The Principal's real name is a mystery. No one knows except his family, and they won't tell us. Which is why I gave him the name Frankenstein when I was little and it just caught up . Now everyone uses it when they're not in his presence. I know, I'm awesome right?!  ( A/N: In case you're wondering, schools in India are broken up into divisions like high school, primary etc... but they are not in separate sites or areas like in the USA. [No offense] They are in the same school campus. So, a student of 5 yrs old going to a school,  will study in the same school till 10th standard which is the end of high school in India unless he changes schools after an academic year for any cause. If you have any more questions, leave it in the comments and I will try my best to answer your questions.)

Avil and I's gang-plan was to get on his good side, so, even if we got into any trouble at school, he would bail us out. The only flaw in this plan was today. While Avil and I were caught up in our word to word tennis match, we didn't see the Principal coming our way. Avil and I also didn't notice all the students hurrying into their classrooms and the teachers gathering their books, nodding their heads and going into some random class. 

I swear he scares the shit out people, except maybe Avil and I. I also have a suspicion that he's an alien because no human can frown their entire life. Believe me, I've met his family and they say that he's always frowning at home too.

'Anaya, Avil, my office. NOW', Principal Frankenstein roared. Yeah, Avil and I were pretty famous in school.

'You guys have been causing us some troubles. I'm pretty sure..', Frankenstein started,'..Avil, remove your feet off of my TABLE. NOW'. Wow! He sure love using "NOW" all the time. 'Also, since you both hate each other, I have the perfect punishment for you two. This year our school is volunteering at The Annual Bangalore Cake Exhibition. I needed two volunteers more and you both, Anaya and Avil, are going to be those two volunteers. Oh and guess what! You both will be working in the same stall and in this way you can learn to get along with each other. Seriously, I'm tired of the nuisance you both cause in the school.' Avil and I looked at each other and gulped. 

In an instant, 'Please don't make me work with him/her'; 'Sorry'; 'Don't make me do that', were heard at the same time from both of us.

'Sorry but you both WILL do it', Frankenstein said giving us a stern look. 'It is today. You will report to Mr. Patel at his stall Cosmetics For All at sharp four o' clock in the evening. School dismisses early today. Maybe around one o' clock, so, you both will have plenty of time to prepare yourselves for four hours of torture with each other. If I hear anything but positive reviews from Mr.Patel, the consequences for the both of you, WILL NOT be good. It can lead to rustication. Hurry along now.'

Hesitantly, we nodded and walked out of the Principal's office.

'It's your fault', Avil and I mumbled at each other and walked away in opposite directions to our class. For the first time, we both were too depressed to make fun of each other. The entire school, including our friends, were shocked.

The school ended early as Frankenstein said and as I was about to go into my house, I told Avil,'Better be there today. I do not want to rusticated', at the same time he said, 'See you today at The Annual Cake Exhibition',

My Friday went absolutely great, I thought to myself as I walked into my room and got ready as well as braced myself to spend four hours under the same roof.. ah.. ceiling... oh, you get what I mean... with the devil's incarnation, also known as Avil.

Damn my life!
