‘Correction, wolves,’ my only pack member muttered telepathically, ‘You need to work on the thoughts you project, it’s helpful when we grow to a larger pack so you can talk to one person at one time.’
Finally taking in my surroundings I saw that there was actually three wolves in the vicinity: one vast black male wolf that was even taller than my lonely wolf in size, next to him stood a small, sleek female wolf with an almost purple sheen to her dark fur, on the other side of the large male stood a smaller, toned grey haired wolf, I assumed he was a male from his strong stance.
The black wolf, the larges one advanced slowly, showing me the same amount of respect, if not more as my lonely wolf had. He bowed lowly, his tail tucked between his legs and ears pressed forwards; in a series of yips and growls he politely asked if he and his friends could join my pack.
I took a miniscule step backwards; I was shocked. I expected a challenge for land or them to challenge my leadership. Confused I slowly nodded my head in acceptance to his request.
Instantly his voice popped into my mind, ‘Hey, my name’s Jace, this is my mate Jade, and the other male is my friend Leon.’
‘Hey, so you’re running this area now?’
‘Ah! Leon right? I’m not, my Alpha Charley is,’ my lonely wolf piped up.
'What. Wait- since when do you know my name?' I asked my lonely wolf.
'Ahem, okay guys, so why'd you want to join our pack?'
‘Hey! Don’t just ignore me!’
‘Shall we, er, leave and come back at a better time?’ Jace warily asked.
‘Forget it, he’s being immature today. Oh! I remember; still trying to get used to the Alpha thing after a whole hour or so of it. So positions,’ I replied.
A childish giggling swept mentally through the conversation, ‘Ah, sorry. Couldn’t help myself! Sorry Alpha, please continue.’
‘Brilliant. I have to cope with that in my mind every day. Leon, don’t call me Alpha please, it is Charley or Charlotte, where was I? Ah, yes positions, I’m Alpha, The one next to me is my beta,’ I thought, tossing my head in my lonely wolf’s direction, ‘Any questions?’
‘I’m the beta?’
‘Duh, you were here first, I owe it to you. Also I trust you the most,’ I practiced projecting this just at my lonely wolf.
‘Yeah, I was the only one that heard that.’
‘What? How’d-’
‘You projected the last bit as well, which was also projected directly at me. You’re learning fast though.’
‘Oh. Okay thanks,’ I smiled.
‘So any questions from you guys?’
‘Nope,’ Leon replied cheerily.
Jade silently shook her head slightly.
‘Just one; Why isn’t he your Alpha,” Jace said pointing his head to my lone wolf.
‘Oh, we run it differently, seeing as I have an unnatural amount of Alpha blood I run this show.’
‘I understand that it’s just because he’s-’
My lone wolf’s growl cut Jace’s questioning off mid flow.
Frowning I shoulder bumped him and returned my gaze to Jace, ‘Go on, please continue.’
‘Oh, um, don’t worry about it, on other thing; how big‘s the territory? Jace queried.
‘This is it so far we literally only just became a pack and started marking,’ I informed warmly.
'Well then, should we start marking Alph- er, Charley?'
‘Ha! Nice save. O' course Jace.’
