Entrenched Love

We won the first few rounds, easy. We were at the finals, and it was getting harder. We barely made it through the semi finals. However, nothing could stand in our way. We have to do this, for Kai. Team Wavebreakers. 

I looked at our opponents. We were in the finals, and we were against Team Dreadnought. Aqua Force.

Misaki was up first against Charlene, one of the sisters of the team.

"Good luck, Misaki!" I called.

She gave a small nod in response.

I watched intensely. The damage was tied 4-4. Misaki's face seemed determined, but her opponent's determination seemed equal.

Misaki took her fifth damage, and her opponent smirked slightly.

"Turn end."

Misaki drew a card, calling it to rear guard. She attacked with her rear guard.

"18k at your vanguard."

Charlene threw down a 10k guard.

Misaki attacked with her vanguard, next.

"No guard."

"First check... no trigger. Second check... critical trigger!"

Charlene scowled as she took her 6th damage, marking the end of the game.

"And the winner is, Misaki Tokura!" the announcer cried.

Misaki turned around, sighing in relief.

Next up, Shingo. He's versing Charlene's sister.

We were so close, I couldn't bare the thought of losing Kai. We needed this.

It seemed to go on forever, but eventually a 6th damage fell into Shingo's damage zone. We lost.

Shingo came back with his head down.

"I'm sorry, guys," he murmured. "I lost."

He looked up at me apologetically. "Win for us."

I nodded in agreement, knowing who my next opponent would be. Leon.

I walked out to the field, drowning out the crowd.

"Leon Souryou vs. Aichi Sendou! Round three in the finals!" the announcer said through the speakers, barely making it over the crowd.

My heart pounded in my chest.

"Stand up, Vanguard!"
