Darren's POV

The next morning, I was awaken by a continuous knocking on the windshield of my car. I don't know what's the exact time but once I open my eyes and scan the surrounding outside - I was fully aware that is already late hour in the morning. I slide down the glass of my car and check whose the offender who disturbed my peacefulness. And I was greeted by a loud angry voice by my best friend.

"Dan! Oh my god! I was calling you for hours. I was worried! I checked your house but you were not there! And when I check your car - I thought you we're dead!" She continuously said without breathing. I just stared at her not minding her blabbing mouth. And then she finally notice my appearance.

"Oh - my - god" she gasp" what happened to you? Have you been crying? Are you hurt somewhere? Did someone hit you? Are you okay?You look miserably awful."
She ask questions after questions. She open the door and checking my body for any sign of injury.

"I'm not hurt physically" I said, to stop her.

She quit checking me. She suddenly cupped my face with her both hands. Then ask me;

"What did you mean by not physically hurt? Care to enlighten me?"

"Tommy" I replied while pointing where my heart is located repeatedly and I begun to cry - remembering last night. I don't know if she got the message but she just hug me and whispers sweet nothings to comfort me.

"Okay, Dan. I'm really lost here. I want you to explain everything what happened to you and Tommy but first let's get you inside the house and fix you something for breakfast. Is that okay with you?" She said.

This is why I love this girl. Carla's been there for me since I could remember. We been best friends since grade school. We supported each other and always there in arms reach whenever we needed each others presence - during time like this.

I nodded to her. I hop out of the car and lock it. I followed her walking towards the house and she unlock the door - she had a spare key into my house in-case of emergency because I don't have someone living with me. She open it wider for us to enter.

"While I'm making you food - take a shower, okay?" she said and hugging me tightly against her petite frame. I returned the gesture. She pulled away and stare up at me waiting for my answer. I just nodded for conformation. She smile at me, turning around and heading towards where the kitchen is located. I walk to the opposite direction, climb up the stairs and went inside my room to take a bath.

I took my time in the shower. After I was finished I went out from the bathroom, dry myself, applied deodorant and lotion on my body and put some fresh clothes on. I walked out from my room and went downstairs.

I enter the kitchen and found Carla already seated behind the table sipping her coffee. She gesture at me to sit down and I follow to her command. When I was settled, she push the plate with food - consisting a couple of toasted sliced bread, bacons and scrambled eggs - in front of me. And place a mug of hot milk beside the plate.

"Eat" she command.

"Thank you" I replied, I'm really not having the appetite to eat. But when it comes to Carla, I must eat or face her wrath. So I dig in. Surprisingly I was able to finish my meal - spotless. She waited for me when I was done eating and starts the questioning.

"Okay - Dan... could you please care to explain to me what happened to you last night?"

I told her everything in details - from the restaurant up to why she found me in the car - eyes bloodshot from crying - but I was glad I did not broke down in front of her during the reliving the dreadful evening to her. And the pain was more bearable because of her presence and the food I ate really helped to lessen the emptiness I felt inside - literally.
