Chapter Eight: A Kiss For A Slap

Darren's POV

It was already past 10 when I arrived at my office.
While inside the office, I cant stop my mind to wander about what Allen got through. If that was me and having a father like that I don't know what I'm gonna do. Allen said he just came out two weeks ago, that made me ponder - what made him decide to came out to his family? What pushed him to that decision? I couldn't ask him because we're not that close like close- close.
Yes, he's now living in my house but that doesn't mean I can ask anything and just intervene his personal life anytime I like to, I just met the guy and we hardly know each other. Also that would make me a hypocrite. I guess he will tell if we got used to each others presence and become real friends and eventually, maybe I can share some of mine. But there is more important than thinking of Allen's situation and that would be my current dilemma that Mr. Devin put me in.
I get my phone and dialled his number to call him but to my disappointment it was answered by his voice mail. I dialled again and again but it always directed to his fucking voice mail. So instead, I used the landline and called at his secretary's desk. After a couple of seconds, a voice answered from the other line.

"Mr. Clayton Devin's office, how may I help you?" Sarah said her memorized line.

"Sarah, it's Darren" I replied." I just want to have a word with your boss regarding the files I send to him last Monday? And it's kind of important." I lied.

"Oh...Dan, sorry to tell you but his in a meeting right now but I can relay it to him when his done." She assured me.

"No, I need to tell it to him personally it's kind a very important that I must say it to him face to face." I hope she won't get suspicious.

"Okay if that's the case." I breath out - thank you lord. "So...you want me to call you when he's done or you will wait for him at his office?" She asked.

"I'll go up there and wait for him. Thank you so much Sarah." We said our goodbyes and ended the call. I got up from my chair and went out from my office. I head towards where the elevators are located and pushed the button going up. The elevator made a 'ding' sound indicating the elevator is open. I entered inside and push the exact floor. After a couple of minutes the elevator stopped and opened at my chosen floor. I excused myself and step out. I walk through the rows of offices before I neared Sarah's desk outside of Mr. Devin office.

"Hey Sarah" I said to caught her attention while putting my hands on top of his large desk and bending forward a little. She looked up adjusting her eye glasses and smiles.

"Your just in time, his inside. The meeting ended early but I did not have a chance to mention you were coming here because he quickly went inside. By the look on his face the meeting did not went well - I guess?" She said.

I breath out. Maybe this is a bad timing to talk about the contract but I'm already here if I back out Sarah might get suspicious because I said to her it's a very important thing, that I have to talk to him. Well it's not my problem his not in a good mood. Hell to his mood - I don't care. "Well this can't wait I have to tell it to him whether his in a nice or bad mood."

"Okay... let me just call you in" she said picking up the phone and call Mr. Devin for approval. After a short conversation I was approved to enter. I said thank you to her and made my way in the front door of his office. I twisted the knob and made myself enter his office. Before I could say my greeting--

"This is a pleasant surprise, how sweet of my fiancée to graced me with his presence." I don't know if he is really pleased or just mocking me? But I have to focus on the main purpose why I'm here.

"Could you please drop the act, I'm here to talk about the stupid contract you made and please don't call me fiancée I'm not a girl! " I whispered yelled approaching him. He just laughed at me. I thought this man is in a bad mood? Ugh! I glared at him. He really is having fun with this fiasco."And what so funny?!" I asked angrily, when I already neared his table.
