Darren's POV
I came back home from work with a mild headache. I keep thinking of the mysterious job that my boss had offered me. Now I feel both anxious and excited about the date with Mr. Devin tomorrow night. Anxious because of what I did back at the office and the job of course but I can't also stop myself from being excited to the fact that I will be having a dinner date with Clayton---i mean Mr. Devin. Well it's not a romantic way but a date none the less - for me.
I was lying on the bed staring at the ceiling - waiting for the sleepiness to take over but suddenly my phone vibrated on top of my drawer beside the left side of the bed - creating an irritating sound. I groan sitting up from the bed, switching on the lamp, picking up the phone and settling my back against the headboard of the bed. I tap the green button on the screen to answer the call without checking the caller.
"Hello?" I ask sleepily
"Dan, sorry for calling this late. Did I woke you up?" I wanted to scream at her - is she stupid or what? Of course she woke me up. But what does screaming at her makes the situation any better - I'm already awake.
"Yes, but it's okay. I'm awake now. What do you want Carly? I hope it's important." I said dismissing the anger I feel inside.
"Yes, of course !" She exclaim on the other line. "A very, very important - it's a life and death kinda important" she said sarcastically.
"Carly I don't have all night to hear all your bullshit - I'm ending this call. By---" but she cut me off before I could end the call .
"Okay, okay...sorry...actually I called because - I wanted to ask a favor from you Dan."
" I hope this favor doesn't includes choosing a dress." I warned.
"No, silly." She assured me "Could you please fetch my cousin at the airport tomorrow Dan?please...pretty please."
"Why me Carly?I have work tomorrow --" I reason out " --what about Clarita, your mom - your dad?"
"Mom and Claire are not in town. They've gone yesterday to visit my grandparents because grandma had a mild stroke - and they will comeback the day after tomorrow." she paused "And you know that my dad is still on the business trip, Dan - if you forgot."
She explained.
"Well sorry about your grandma but what about you and your future husband? Don't tell me you're in the middle of having sex - that's why you can't fetch your cousin - who I don't even know to begin with, Carly?" I fired back annoyed. Why me? And Is that cousin of her so stupid that he cannot help himself to find his way to the house of his relatives.
"Dan to refresh your memory - me and my future hubby are not in town also - did you forgot? I already told you the reason yesterday during lunch time after the - 'dress up barbie whatsoever' - Dan!" She mocked. Of course how I could forgotten the reunion of the relatives of her fiancée.
"Ugh...sorry. I had so much in my mind right now - I'm really sorry, Carly." I apologize to her " What time does his flight will arrive?"
"8 pm - and Dan are you okay? - you sound bothered. Do I have to worry on something?" She asked concerned.
"Nothing, I'm fine. No need for mother hen." I said and she giggles " but wait where do I have to drop him? If the whole family are not home yet?" I ask wondering.
"That's where the second favor will take its place - Dan just for one night at your house. And after that I will fetch my cousin when I return - okay?"
"Carly...this is too much! You better had something to give me in return." I spat at her " But wait - why just he can stay at a hotel just for the night?"
