Aches And Pains Never Seem To Go Away, For A Man Like Him That Is
-The Next Day-
The sun was beginning to rise, the sky remained colours of subtle pink and orange.
With his eyes wide open, Sunny sat up and cocked his head to the side with a quiet "Hmm?"
He rubbed the back of his head, a headache causing him slight discomfort. Another sleepless night. Slowly, he swung his aching legs to the side of his bed and used the palms of his hands to support himself as he stood up.
Aching legs and headaches where often side effects when he hadn't used his powers for a while and since yesterday he hadn't used them in almost three months.
Eyeing the clock on the wall, the young man smirked in satisfaction.
'6:00 AM on the dot. Perfect.'
Putting a pair of pajama pants over his boxer shorts, he made his way over to the window and opened it, letting goosebumps form on his bare arms, shoulders and chest as fresh air traveled across the skin.
'Man this feels good.'
Unfortunately, Mother Nature had decided to be a a pain and make the day one that was filled with high humidity. And due to his abilities, it made him sweat like a pig.
The only way to control his body temperature was to have an ice, cold shower or bath, but the shower was his main preference.
And now, with it being early in the morning, was the perfect time to have a few hours to himself before the others woke up.
Taking out a set of clean clothes, Sunny laid them out on his bed, ready to come back to them after he had finished having his shower.
Glancing at the door, he walked over to it and exited the room quietly.
-Shower Time-
A hand turned the faucet to the right. Sunny waited for the refreshing water to fall into his skin. And when he did, he let out a relieved sigh.
The water danced around, stimulating his senses. It was icy cold and just how he liked it. He honestly wanted to stand in the shower the entire day as that and drinking bottled water was his only source of keeping cool.
But like every other human being, he had things he needed to do within a short space of time. And, he would probably catch a cold.
Just because he was different to other humans, it didn't mean he couldn't think and feel just like them. He could laugh, he could cry, he could even crack a smile when he wanted to.
But the one thing he couldn't bring himself to do was talk. Why? He was too afraid. Sunny wasn't one to explain things fully, anything his friends did know about him was vague, not very detailed.
Nevertheless, he seemed to be just your average twenty year old.
Turning the faucet once again, the water cut off. He stepped out of the shower and wrapped a towel around his waist before putting on his dressing gown for extra coverage. There where girls living in the house after all and he didn't want them seeing- never mind.
Sunny went back to his bedroom to get dressed. He still had a good three hours to do what he wanted.
-With Go Go-
"You've been acting really jumpy today, hon, are you okay?" Cass was concerned. "Did something happen?"
Go Go didn't reply, she simply stared up at the mini flat screen TV that hung on the wall. The same news report about Sunny had been playing over and over on each channel.
"You're worrying about that fire guy, aren't you?"
Go Go slowly nodded, trying not to make it obvious.
"He was just trying to protect me, and now he's gonna get targeted because of me. This is all my fault, Cass. I never should have been there."
"You didn't ask for him to get filmed by some random- wait, that girl was you?"
"Y-yeah, some guy was holding a knife to my throat and..."
"Whoa, Go Go, are you okay?" Hiro's voice shocked her. "You're shaking."
"I'm f-fine. Can I get a coffee, Cass?"
"Sure thing. Hiro, honey, go and take Go Go upstairs, i'll bring some coffee."
****
"You seem to be distressed." Baymax said in his usual tone. "What seems to be the problem?"
"I-"
There it was, the same report. Was this a joke? Did it just want to make her more scared than she already was? What she saw was a scientific discovery, it had never, ever happened before.
And from what she was aware of, mutants only existed in movies. But now, she was officially wrong.
"This guy could be a threat, who knows what he'll do next. I know he was trying to protect you-" Hiro was cut off by Honey Lemon unintentionally.
"But what he did was a bit extreme, don't you think?"
"I don't think it was extreme." Hiro began again. "I think he may of just lost control and lashed out."
"I think you're right, dude. Think about it, he's a fire mutant, right?"
Everyone nodded, mumbling words of agreement.
"In a comic book I read once, there was a guy who could manipulate fire and everyone thought he was evil. Everyone hated him and made fun of him for being a mutant, but he saved everyone from total annihilation and then he was the hero!"
"So you're trying to say this guy is a real life version of a comic book character?" Wasabi asked. "Look man, it's a nice story 'n' all but-"
"OH STOP SAYING 'THIS GUY!'" Go Go snapped, surprising everyone, shooting up from her seat. "HE HAS A NAME!"
"Then what's his name?"
Go Go calmed herself with a deep breath.
"Sunny. His name's Sunny, the same guy Danika was talking about."
"SUNNY?!" the others exclaimed in unison, eyes widened in surprise.
"Wait...do you realise what this means? If he's a mutant...then it's possible the others could be mutants too."
"You're kidding, right? A group of mutants in San Fransokyo? I know what I saw and it was real, but there's no way there are more of them, they would have been discovered by now." Go Go folded her arms, slowly sitting back down after calming herself
"You're wrong, dudette. Sunny's not the only one." Zach's voice caused them to jump out of their skin.
"Let us explain, lover boy. You're the only people who we feel like we can trust; you and your friends aren't like most people we know. You're different."
"In a good way!" Ted added with a reassuring smile, he managed to make Honey Lemon jump in surprise and earn a small giggle from her when she realised who was behind her.
Hiro began to think when he heard Danika's low tone.
'But why us? We haven't known each other very long.'
Go Go's expression changed when Zach spoke.
"Okay, guess I was wrong."
A/N: I was going to post this chapter tomorrow, but I decided to be nice and post it a day early! You guys probably know the song I added from Shrek 2 (please no Shrek is love, Shrek is life comments, my heart wouldn't be able to take it xD)
I personally thought the song suited Sunny really well- because think about it, he's had sleepless nights and all he wants is to do is get some sleep. But what exactly does he have to "let go?" i'm sure we'll all find out soon
I hope you enjoyed this chapter, the next one will be up on Friday as usual :D
