My new stepbrother

Chapter 1

My name is Caroline. I'm in 10th grade and my crush is in 11th. I had my plan to win him over since elementary. We have one class together so I try to make the most of it. It's now the middle of the year and still nothing happened, until now. I was arriving at my house stepping in when I see my mom with a big smile on her face. "What's going on" I ask her in confusion. She held up her hand and showed me a diamond ring. "Ruben and I are getting married! Him and his son are coming over for dinner tonight so get dresses while I order Chinese." "Do you know the sons name" I asked her still confused about what's going on. "I don't know his name but Ruben said he goes to the same school as you but he's one year older" she said. I didn't mine having a brother because I always wanted one but she said he goes to my school and I thought about who it can be.

I was getting dressed when I heard the door bell ring. I was wearing Black leggings and a loose flower tank top. My mom and I opened the door to see Ruben and his son outside. "Caroline" his son said in shock. My mouth opened wide when I saw my crush outside my house.

"I knew you guys knew each other" Ruben said in delight. Better than you think I murmured walking to the table. I sat down next to my mom and in front of Jake and Ruben. There was a silence the whole dinner and that's when I stood up from my seat, put away my leftovers, took my skateboard and ran outside. Jake ran out when I was about halfway around the block. "Caroline, stop" I heard him screaming. I stopped skateboarding and turned to him. He came up to me and said "Its not just you going through this, we are in this together" and with that he threw me into a hug and I cried into his arm.

It was now time for bed. Jake slept in the pull out bed next to mine. "Jake" I questioned. "Yes Caroline". "What are we going to tell people"? "We can just say we are family friends so that we can say we carpool and if anyone comes over my dad is here or your mom came over" he said to me. "Okay" I told him. I got out of bed and told him to get up. He did as he was told and got out of bed. "What are you doing?" "I'm extending your bed". I figured he was being nice so I just did what was right and made his bed higher. "Thanks" he said to me. "No problem" I smiled and jumped back in bed. "Goodnight" I said to him. "Good night Caroline."

"Morning" I said to Jake waking him up from his deep sleep. "What time is it" Jake murmured making it clear he's tired. "Time to wake up I giggled. We have school today". "I'm to tired." "That's to bad" I said jumping out of bed. "I'm going to the bathroom, when I come out I'm expecting you to be out of bed" I said seriously. "Fine" Jake said slapping himself with his pillow.

We arrived at school and right away people started staring at us. We went separate ways and I heard his friends asking him why you walked in with Caroline. I smiled at the thought that they knew my name. When I walked over to my own friends they were asking if I'm not telling them something. "Guys look I said to them. Jake and I are just friends". "You and the cutest guy in our school just friends" my friend Sofia said to me. "Yes just friends". I looked back at Jake who was talking with his friends and said to myself just friends and my smile faded away.

My last class was with Jake and all of his friends. I walked into to my jym class and saw a couple of my friends in the background. "Caroline my friend Dani said to me. What's going on with you and Jake?" "Nothing"I said blushing. I thought to myself, why am I blushing he's now my brother so stop. I turned around and caught all of Jake's friends looking at me. That's when Jake arrived. The coach then arrived and starting taking role. When we were down he let us change into our jym clothes. Today in jym we just ran a lot.

"Caroline, wait up" I heard Jake screaming at me. Apparently everyone also heard and looked at us. "My mom usually picks me up over there" I said pointing to the corner of our school. "Okay, so is it just me or was everyone asking you about us?" "Nope I nodded, it was the both of us".When we were leaving everyone was staring at us as if we were famous. Jakes phone kept on buzzing in he car so I snatched his phone to see what he was getting text about. Your dating Caroline???? One said. Actually I counted them and there were about ten of that exact question. As if Jake read my mind he says to me "Don't listen to what they say." Jake grabs his phone away from me. I saw him text his friends that we are just family friends. Lucky I saw one reply. I blushed a little. This is going to be one long year I thought to myself.
