I ran out of my apartment. I ran down the stairs and out the front door. I didn't care about the burning in my throat, because let's be honest, I wasn't the fittest girl out there. I didn't care about anything. Well, except for Calum.

I pulled my phone out of my pocket and dialled Calum's number, still running. It rang twice before he answered.

"Aoife?" He shouted into the phone, sounding evidently relieved.

"Calum!" I replied, quite out of breath.

"Aoife, I'm so sorry, please-"

I laughed into the phone. "Calum, shut up. I must be the stupidest girl on earth right now, but I forgive you."

"Really!"

"Yes. Now meet me in the town centre, outside McDonalds."

Calum squealed into the phone. "Sure, I'll be right there." There was a pause. "Aoife, thank you."

I hung up and continued running. I must have looked crazy, tears still in my eyes, my face red, running down the street. I didn't care though.

I ran around the corner and bumped into three different people, apologising loudly as I ran away from them. Time could not go fast enough.

The McDonalds sign came into view and I ran even faster. Calum should be there now, he lived a block away from it.

I ran towards McDonalds, getting closer and closer. My heart pounded in my chest, so hard it felt like it would burst through my ribcage and out my chest. All I could think about was Calum. Calum. Calum. Calum.

I stopped running and caught my breath. McDonalds was just across the road. I looked over, trying to spot Calum in the small crowd.

There he was.

My eyes rested on him. He was leaning against the sign outside the fast food restaurant, his hair messy and his muscles visible under his light t-shirt. I never felt more in love in my life.

"Calum!" I shouted. His head snapped up and he stood up straight. Even from across the road, I could see the smile on his face.

"Aoife!" He replied, gesturing for me to come over to him.

I stepped onto the road, beginning to run again. My eyes were focused on Calum, on his smiling face, on his beautiful body, on him.

His face started off in a huge grin. But as I got closer, his expression changed. His eyes widened and his mouth started opening and closing. His hands waved in front of him and he took a giant step forward.

"Aoife, no!"

I turned my head and that's when I saw it.

Everything went black.
