Kira Palmer
When it was time for me to let go of Tyler I definitely didn't handle it well.
I didn't want him to leave my side but I knew he had business to attend to. It was safe to say I had become a stage 5 clinger.
Before I left, Tyler had promised me he wouldn't be home too late and that seemed to calm me down.
I was now sitting in a cute little diner booth along with my brother, John and Max.
"All I'm saying is it's perfectly normal to dip fries in your milkshake." Max defended himself to John.
"Its definitely not the norm." John responded simply yet still managed to anger Max even more.
"Whatever okay? You're missing out and I feel bad for you." Max concluded emphasizing biting his milkshake covered french fry.
"I think I'll live." John sassed with an eye roll.
I had noticed Connor had been quiet for the majority of the meal. I didn't want to pry but I knew it was because of my Dad's unexpected visit.
"Are you okay?" I nudged his shoulder. John and Max's pointless argument ended and they both looked towards Connor expectantly.
"I'm good," He shrugged "why wouldn't I be okay? It's not like my Dad used me to spy on a pack that hadn't done anything wrong. It's not like he tried to use me as an excuse to start a war by telling his alpha I was kidnapped. Everything's fine."
My eyes had widened as Connor's rant went on.
"So....?" Max trailed.
"No, not everything is fine right now but that's okay. It will be fine in the end." I told Connor sternly.
"How do you know that?" He scoffed.
"Because Tyler said so. He's not going to let anything bad happen." I assured.
"You believe that because he's your mate. You believe that he actually has control over the situation because that's what he tells you to calm you down. But honestly Kira, you really think he's capable of fixing this whole situation without something bad happening from it?" He questioned looking at me sincerely.
"I do." My reply was short and sweet and I decided I didn't want to talk about this topic anymore.
When the check came John grabbed it quickly. Despite my protests he told me that Tyler had given him extra money to pay for things that included me. Apparently that meant Tyler was paying for all of us.
When we arrived back at the house Connor excused himself and went to his room. It bothered me but I wasn't going to say anything about it.
Wear something nice. We're presenting you to the pack tonight. Tyler's voice rang through my mind.
What? Tonight? I sent back panicked.
Nonnegotiable. Was all I heard in response.
"Just go brush your hair or whatever and throw on a dress. It's not a big deal." John told me waving his hand.
"Not a big deal? He just throws this on me out of nowhere and you're telling me it's not a big deal!" I yelled rummaging through my closet.
John was standing in the doorway leaning against it and Max was sitting on my bed trying and failing to hold on his laughter.
"You really need a Xanax or something." John muttered causing me to glare at him.
"What I need is for someone to help me pick an outfit." I groaned.
