I blinked looking up and sighed, I got almost no sleep last night. My mind was like a tornado, just going around and around destroying everything that I thought I knew. I didn't know what to believe growing up you’re taught that the supernatural things are just folk stories and now there is proof they are real. The worse thing is that I'm the monster that they are afraid that is hiding under their bed.
I pushed myself up and went to the bathroom. I looked at myself in the mirror. I looked lifeless, I couldn't smile, my insides felt dead. I was pale; my normally happy brown eyes just seemed so dull.
After a shower I dressed in clothes that were leant to me. It was just black pants and a black shirt, including underwear and socks with shoes.
Last night when we got our rooms we were told to go to the dining room and have breakfast then we were going to leave.
I brushed my teeth and hair trying to fake smile but I just couldn't. I went down to the living room where some of the creatures were already there. I noticed how they stopped eating for a moment before slowly continued but watched me as if I would jump over and slit their throats.
I sighed getting up and walked over to the window. I sat on the window seat just looking at the trees that surrounded this place.
I leaned back holding my knife; I was a hunter, which is what my father was along with his father…
“You should eat.” I looked over briefly at the girl that I had sat next to yesterday before looking back out the window.
“Not hungry.” I answered hoping she would just leave me alone.
I saw her step closer holding out a plate of fruit that I knew was her breakfast, “Please have some. I wouldn’t want you to get hurt because you didn't have the energy.” She replied with a smile.
I just ignored her. She sighed softly, “Alright, I will just leave this here.” She set a banana on my lap and walked away.
I burrowed my eyebrows as I stared out the window. If she knew that I had the blood of a hunter, why come near me? Why not flinch away like the other people did?
I glanced at the banana and sighed, I was hungry; I just didn't want to eat with them judging me.
I pealed the banana and ate it. I saw something fly towards me and I quickly moved grabbing my knife. I narrowed my eyes on the girl that glared at me crouching slightly. It was the girl that yelled at me saying she was disgusted at me.
I watched as her ears moved up into black pointed ones and she bent over ripping her clothes and before me was a black panther.
I clenched my knife, “Just because I don't want blood on my hands doesn't mean I won’t hesitate to skin you alive.” I growled at her.
She hissed at me and her tail flicked then she crouched. She shot at me with speed but I was just as fast and easily dodged her making her crash into the wall. I slid to a stop holding my knife glaring at her.
She whipped around with a snarl and came at me; I bent back as she jumped over me and grabbed her paw yanking her down to the ground. It was as if instinct; I back flipped onto her back yanking her chin up with one hand and held the knife to her neck in half a second.
She went still, knowing with one slip I would slit her throat. I glared disgusted and got off; I slid my knife in the holder and went back to the window seat.
I glared out the window; I could have easily killed her. I could have easily slit her throat and no one could have stopped me.
While everyone ate breakfast I just glared at my hands, why did I have to have these abilities? Why couldn't they stick to the gene and only pass on to the boys?
