Chapter 8

            **Nathan’s POV**

As Lilly got up to get herself water, I realized how much I wanted to ask her out. The way I felt around her was unlike how I’ve felt around any other girl. But I couldn’t help but keep thinking about what Siva said. What if she really did just need a friend and I was too soon. I didn’t want to scare her off. I couldn’t stay just friends with her for long but if that’s really all she needs, where does that leave me?

When she came back in, she sat back next to me. Looking around I saw Tom leaving with Olive, they were holding hands and whispering to each other. Siva had his arms around Nareesha, who was napping in his lap. Then there was Jay and Elizabeth who were on the couch making out, so I guess they got along pretty well. Max was nowhere to be seen. That just left me and Lilly. I felt the urge to hold her hand or something, being so surrounded by happy couples, I longed for that.

I hadn’t had a proper girlfriend since The Wanted started. The fans never liked the idea of me dating and I never met a girl that could take it. I had a feeling she could, but at the same time I wouldn’t want to subject her to that. I’d had plenty of one night stands, but that wasn’t enough for me. I wanted permanence and stability. I wanted a relationship and I wanted it with Lilliana Winston.

I couldn’t hold it in any longer, “Do you want to go to lunch with me?” I just blurted it out.

She looked a little shocked, but then she smiled, “Not looking like this, no.”

“I could take you home to change first.”

“In that case, I’d love to.”

I ran upstairs and got ready in record time. I threw on some chinos and a tee, then topped it off with a hat so I didn’t have to worry about my hair. When I came back downstairs, she was standing and ready. After letting Siva know I was taking his car, we headed to her house.

When we had climbed the stairs she invited me in to wait for her. I sat awkwardly on her couch while I waited, but the wait was worth it. When she walked out she had on white shorts, slightly tattered at the bottom, a tucked flannel top and black combat boots. Her hair fell straight down to the middle of her back.

As she went to grab her jacket, I couldn’t take my eyes off of her, “You look incredible.”

She turned around with pink cheeks, “Thanks.”

Without another word, we left to head toward a small café. When we got there, she got seats and I ordered us each a club sandwich. “Tell me about yourself,” she asked as we waited for our food.

“Well, my name is Nathan James Sykes, I am a member of a popular boy band. I grew up in Gloucester with my mum and my sister, Jessica. I love Coca-Cola and snapbacks.” I answered smoothly.
