I don't know why I go to these open gym sessions, it's not like they won't pick me for varsity anyway.
I probably just go to spend time with the guys and show up so coach won't think I'm not taking my captain position seriously.
I left my room in the shitty state it was in and went down the stairs two steps at a time, I picked up my car keys and left the house to go back to school for the lifting before the session of open gym would start.
I got into my blue Camaro and drove all the way to school in less than ten minutes, I could probably get there with my eyes closed.
I parked the car into the first free spot and took out of the booth my gym bag.
The chilly October air taking over the hot heating I had inside my Camaro, I walked fast towards the school entrance and down the empty corridor until I finally reached the changing room.
Most of my team from the year before were getting ready for the lifting by putting on their running shoes or talking randomly about their past summer and the girls they had fucked while school was out.
Now don't get me wrong, I am a player by all means. I have a reputation around here of being the guy every girl wants. I never had the need to run after a girl because they just throw them selves at my feet.
Yet, strangely enough, I really didn't feel like starting this conversation with my friends today.
"Hey man, am I late?" said Lucas, running in the changing room still in his work clothes and getting out of my thoughts.
"Yeah, like always." answered Jack mockingly, while closing his locker.
"So did you guys hear the news?" Said a guy I didn't even now the name of, he was in my Spanish class, I think.
"No, what news?" asked Lucas while trying to get ready as fast as he could.
"A girl is trying out for the team." He said laughing.
Wait? What!
"Impossible, girls can't tryout for the boys team." I said, speaking for the first time since I got here.
"Well I don't know, but she seemed pretty sure she would be able to play." said Will.
"Do you know who this girl is?" I ask now curious about this.
"Yeah, one of the new girls, the twins. I think her name is Melanie." Answered Will.
"Ooh you mean Becca's twin. I didn't know she played." said Luke joining in the conversation.
Yeah, because he only new one half of the twins and it definitely wasn't Mel.
We went to the football field and got into the training area were all the machines were, coach was already there waiting for us with his usual stack of papers with all the exercises we had to do.
"Ok guys, choose a partner and let's start working." He said.
I turned toward Luke and he nodded. We didn't need much conversation between us, we had been the closest of friends since we were three and now we could understand each other just with our eyes.
