"So he just...hit you? Just like that lass?" Bofur tried to understand what Thorin had done to you. You yourself wouldn't have believe that your husband had hit you, if you didn't see it with your own eyes.

"Yes! I told him he could return to me with my wedding ring once he came to his senses," you glared at the ground beneath your feet. The company around you was shocked at what Thorin had done. They thought differently of him and you couldn't have been more happy. Your miserable old goat of a husband would finally be getting what he deserves.

"Well then, maybe that will make him realize," Avalon placed a comforting hand on your shoulder. "I feared that this day would come. Dragon sickness is a fierce love y/n."

"You're telling me," you rolled your eyes. The instant you got back to the company you had bawled your eyes out and told them what happened. "Do....do you think he'll come out of it?"

"I can't say for certain my dear, but you've given him quite the reason to come back into reality," Balin squeezed your shoulder gently.

"I hope so," you said sadly.

"We all hope so," Balin gave you a small smile.

Thorin ambled around on the gold, 'why did she throw her ring like that?' Thorin thought. He was utterly clueless as to why you would do such a thing. It's not like Thorin did anything....or did he?

Gold. Gold. So much gold! And it was all his! He was the king and his vast horde belong to no one but him! There was no one on this earth that could compared to the king under the mountain.

What had Thorin done to you? It was evident that you were bothered by something he did. The gold crunched beneath his feet at he searched for your ring.

He would not part with a single coin. Not one piece of it. How could any of this gold be anyone else's to give? The men of the lake deserved nothing! They didn't help them get into the mountain, why should he help them now? No one would get a share of the treasure.

Thorin sniffles as he pinched the bridge of his nose. A headache was coming on. Thorin was feeling a considerable amount of grief and guilt in his heart. He had hurt you that much he knew. There was some foggy part of his brain that couldn't find out why. It was like someone or something else had taken hold of him.

He stifled a sob as he made eye contact with the gold beneath, but this time he didn't see the gold, he saw a small gold diamond ring. He bent over and picked it up. He looked at the small, yet so precious ring in his palm. He stroked the side of it as if he were stroking the cheek of his beloved. He smiled as he remembers the day you and him got married. He realized looking at such a thing that meant so much to him, was worth more than any amount gold. Gold could not make him happy. The only thing that could make him happy was you.

Thorin took a confident hand and raised it up the the crown on his head. He grabbed it harshly to where his knuckles turned white. He quickly flung the crown off his head and it clanged sharply into the gold coins. He was happy to find he was disgusted at the sound and it felt like a tremendous weight had been lifted. He ripped the large blacks robe from his body and glared at it.
"See if I ever pick you up again," Thorin pointed to the inanimate object. He stomped his way through the gold with purpose and with your wedding ring in his hand.

You stood overlooking the LakeTown that once was. It had plums of smoke that rose high into the sky and homes of families were torn apart. The whole group had brought ruin upon them. There was no way all of you could make up for it.

"Ya know lass, you needn't worry," Balin said from behind you.

You didn't turn to look at him. You chortled," how so? We've killed so many innocently lives, we've given so much into this quest, only for my hus-...Thorin, to fal to dragon sickness and turn him away from me. What's not to worry about?"

"Y/n, we've been through far worse and-," his sentenced faded.

You let out a single fake laugh, "no, please continue! Amuse me, how could things possibly get any worse?"

"You should probably turn around y/n," said Fili from the back. When you turned you gasped and glared. It was Thorin, but he want wearing his royal symbols of power. His new attire surprised you and you were curious as to why he wasn't looking to anyone, but you.

"Thorin?" You asked.

He waited a minute before speaking as if he were asking permission to speak," y/n, I've realized my doing."

"Oh, you have, have you? Please by all means tell me," you crossed your arms and glared at him.

He walked up to slowly as he spoke," y/n, I know I'm probably the last person you want to talk to b-"

"You're damn right you are!" You butted in angrily. He ignored your outburst although it hurt him.

"-but I want to begin with you're absolutely right. I've realized that I should help other now instead of hide away sighing the walls of Erebor. I should not place gold above you. And I never ever would do that," he stood in front of you," and I could see where you would send me away. I don't ever want to harm you like I did. I am utterly unworthy of your love because of the actions I took, but I would be a fool if I, at least, did not try to win your love back," he held out and open palm and it had your wedding ring in it.

You gasped and brought a hand up to cover your mouth,".....y-you found it," you looked in his eyes with shock.

"For you, I would do anything. The day we married, I vowed to never harm you and I broke that. I will leave you if you send me away, but I must try for a second chance to regain your hand," Thorin reasoned. You were taken aback at his determination to earn your love. He had walked through that hell of a treasure horde and somehow found your ring. You were persuaded by his words and you extends your ring finger towards him. Your expression had softens and Thorin looked in your eyes with adoration.

"I will try," you whispered. Your heart warmed up when that lovely smile filled your husbands face.

"I wouldn't want anything more than that," he smiled as he slid the gold band onto your finger. You moved your finger so the diamond twinkled in the sun's light.

"Thank you," you looked you deeply in the eyes.

"You are most welcome," he said and you tugged yourself close to his chest. You wrapped your arms around him in a grateful hug. And he returned it.
