All the broken pieces
Make the memories in my mind
When did they take over
And how did you get inside?
I'm sitting in the midst
Of the puzzle still undone
Trying to make a border
With pieces I can't find
You say you've come to help me
To allow me now to rest
But what if while I'm sleeping
I draw up my last breath
The fear it keeps me waking
And when you must know why
This is all I offer
Before you say goodbye
I can live with broken pieces
With painful, sleepless nights
And a picture left unfinished
In the shadows of my head
But please before you leave now
Know I thank you for the attempt
The nightmares are much weaker
With a friend around to help

All the Broken Pieces
PoetryHow does a person explain what it means to be broken? When speaking to a friend, what can be said to show them they are trusted in spite of fear? This is a conversation between two friends, so that the brokenness inside can be understood.
