How could I tell you
About all my scars
The beatings, my brokenness
It's all in the past
It still hurts
That's true
But why should I let it go so far as to hurt you
The bruises are healed
I'm bleeding no more
And yet you persist
But why I'm unsure
The pain is for me
I've learned to live in its shell
Why must you say then
You want to comprehend it as well
I don't understand you
You're well and you're whole
Do you not know the risk
If you take from this bowl
You claim this is for me
So you may help me with the damage
I don't know what you hope to gain
By joining me in the wreckage
So don't go there
Don't drink from my cup
Just be my friend now
You needn't take my pain
It's worth all the heartache
To see your smile unchanged
