The next morning, when you wake, you instantly think back to last night, you think back to all the strange things you were feeling, but you make a decision there and then to just forget about it, JJ is just your friend, he’s a nice guy, he’s funny, and yes, he’s gorgeous, but for now you just want to have a friendly yet professional relationship with him. You take a shower, get dressed and head downstairs to meet Sonya, Abigail, Molly, Imaan & Finley, your 5 best friends and your dance crew on The X Factor. The 6 of you have worked together for years now, and seen a lot of contestants come and go on The X Factor stage, but you all seem to really like Union J. As you get into the minibus to head over to the studios, Finley turns to you and says ‘So I saw JJ coming out of your room last night, what’s going on there?’ The other girls all turn to you and look shocked, but also happy, you tell them all that it was nothing, you were just talking, and that even though he is very cute, you don’t want to get into anything right now because you’re trying to concentrate on work. ‘Oh come on’ all the girls are saying, ‘He’s cute, give him a chance’. You just smile and manage to change the subject.
When you’re all in the dance studio, talking amongst yourselves, Brian [Friedman] walks in and says that he would like to go over the Union J routine again and make a couple of small changes, immediately you think of JJ, thinking ‘Oh I hope he’s not here’ Not in a mean way, but you just didn’t want to see him after last night, just incase maybe he thought it was something more than it was, or maybe because the girls all thought there was something going on. Just as you’re thinking that, JJ, Jaymi, George & Josh walk through the door, you get a slight sinking feeling in your stomach, but you smile to cover it up. After spending the whole morning going over and over the routine, everyone is completely exhausted and are sitting on the floor, backs against the wall, drinking water and just chatting.
JJ sits down next to you and puts his hand on your knee as he lowers himself to the ground, the girls all take that as a bit of a sign and look at you with raised eyebrows, smiling like little girls.
The 2 of you talk quietly and then suddenly without meaning to, you say to him ‘Was last night a date?’, immediately after saying it you feel like an idiot and just close your eyes for a second, smiling through the awkward silence then JJ replies ‘I don’t know, you’re a lovely girl, but I think of you as a friend’ he says. You’re a little relieved and jokingly say ‘Oh I see, I’m not good enough for you am I?’ and for a second he thinks you’re being serious and then the 2 of you just laugh like drunk teenagers. Yours and JJs friends just look at the 2 of you like they know that you like each other, but neither of you are willing to admit it, either that or you just don’t realize it yet.
As the weeks go by, you & JJ grow closer, it’s almost like you’ve known each other for years and anytime he needs someone to talk to, he comes to you, and visa-versa, the 2 of you have even had many movie nights together and ended up falling asleep on your sofa.
One Wednesday morning you & JJ walk into the studio to find your friends and the boys getting warmed up, George & Sonya over in the corner pretending to ballroom dance and Imaan trying to teach Josh how to Gangnam Style properly. All 10 of you have grown to be such good friends since the start of the show and Jaymi suggests that you all go on a big night out on Thursday, blow of some steam and have some fun, you all look around to each other, smiling in agreement. And after another hard days work, Union J head off to get a taxi to a red carpet event that they’ve been invited to tonight, while you & your friends head back to the hotel to get some sleep.
