After work on Thursday Jaymi stops by your room on his way to his to introduce you all to Olly, you’re all so happy to meet him because Jaymi is always talking about him. After they go to get dressed, the 6 of you continue to get ready, picking outfits and helping each other with hair and make up. Molly looks at you in the mirror while helping you straighten your hair and says “So when are you & JJ finally gonna admit that you like each other?” you look back and say “I do like him, but I’m pretty sure that we’re in the friend-zone now, I don’t know, It’s like I said before, work is what’s important right now” She smiles at you, knowing that it’s a good thing that you want to focus on your career but at the same time she and all the girls just want you to be happy and they know that JJ makes you laugh and smile like you haven’t done in a long time.
You & the girls head down to the lobby to meet the boys and Josh & George introduce you to their best friends Ellen & Leah and you all get along instantly, they see how close you & JJ are and Leah asks if the 2 of you are a couple, you & JJ just look at each other and laugh ‘No, we’re not a couple’ you both say in unison. All 13 of you pile into some taxi’s and head off into town to a club.
The club is pretty quiet right now, so all of you manage to get to the bar and get some drinks and some of the girls working behind the bar recognize Union J and 1 of them talks to their manager about giving them and their friends the VIP section. After a couple of hours of drinking and laughing you & the girls decide to get up and dance, despite thinking that he has 2 left feet, JJ gets up to join you and as the 2 of you dance closely everyone starts exchanging looks, like they all know that there’s something between the 2 of you. After an hour on your feet dancing the DJ decides it’s time to lighten the mood and plays ‘Beneath your beautiful’ and as JJ goes to sit down, you drag him back up ‘C’mon, dance with me’ you say playfully, he jokingly rolls his eyes and gets back up to dance with you. Smiling, he wraps his arms around your waist, as you link your hands behind his neck with your wrists rested on his shoulders. As he’s looking into your eyes, you look right back and the 2 of you smile sweetly at each other. JJ’s hands join behind you back as he pulls you closer to him, you know he’s about to kiss you and even though part of you wants to stop him, another part of you wants to just grab him and kiss him back. His head tilts just slightly as he leans in and kisses you, you don’t pull away, you kiss him back, and your hands unlock from and each other rest on the sides of his neck. Time seems to stop for you as his hands pull you in closer and grip a little tighter at your hips. All your friends are shocked but smiling, glad to see that the 2 of you have finally given in.
Suddenly you pull back and look at JJ like you’ve made a big mistake ‘I’m sorry, I can’t, we can’t do this…’ you say and you grab your bag and leave, JJ is left a little stunned and Josh walks over to him ‘What happened?’ Josh says, ‘I don’t know, I like her, I thought she liked me back, but...’ JJ replies, Josh cuts him off slightly ‘Of course she likes you, I see the way she looks at you, you just don’t see it because the 2 of you are such good friends. I think she’s just afraid to admit it, she’s very committed to her work, I just don’t think she wants anything to interfere with that. You’ve gotta go after her’. JJ agrees and runs out of the club after you, halfway down the street he catches up with you and stops you, ‘why did you run out?’ he asks ‘I just don’t want to get into anything serious right now, I just don’t think it’s the right time, It’s not that I don’t like you’ you say as you take his hand, ‘I just think that maybe we should wait a while’ he looks at you with a little sadness but he understands what you mean ‘Okay’ he says ‘So do you think that maybe after we’re done with The X Factor then we could give ‘us’ a try?’ You sweetly smile and say ‘maybe yeah’ he holds your hand and walks you back to the hotel, neither of you talk the whole way there, but both of you have a lot on your mind. He walks you to your door and thinks about kissing you on the cheek, the way that he always has done, but he decides not to considering everything that’s happened this evening. He says goodnight and walks back down to the lobby to meet the guys coming back from the club, Ellen asks him if the 2 of you managed to work it out ‘Sort of’ he says ‘We’re okay, but we’re just gonna stay friends for now’. Jaymi can see that he’s a little bit upset so he gives him a hug and JJ confesses to him that he’s worried that if it doesn’t happen soon then the 2 of you are going to miss your shot.
That night, while laying in bed JJ keeps checking his phone to see if you’ve text him, but what he doesn’t know is that 3 doors away you’re also laying in bed, checking your phone every 2 minutes. You think to yourself ‘Have I made a huge mistake? Am I that damaged that I don’t know a good thing when I have it right in front of me?’ You decide to talk to him after the weekend shows are done so that you don’t get distracted.
