The end of the world came in waves . . .
First, a far-off thunderous roar from beyond the horizon. It swept over them - again and again.
Next, a dense cloud, its leading edge blood red, slowly consumed the sky. It blanketed the sun, shrouding everything in deep twilight. It stayed and became the Always Cloud.
And then came the Ash Rain. Birds dropped from the skies. The people looked up and their mouths filled with ashes. Everyone and everything turned into ghosts. As the people fell, they believed it was the end of the world. What had they done to so anger the Ancients?
One of the last to fall thought about the old woman in his bode who knew too much. When the blood red Always Cloud came she told them to go into the forbidden depths of their cave. But few of them listened. He smiled. Maybe she would survive the end of the world. But would anyone else?
