¨I'm going to go check out the drama scene,¨ Dezz said and started to head for the door.
¨Dezz no, let them handle it,¨ Skylar said trying to get up in the bed but groaning back in pain. Dezz stopped just outside the door and slowly came back into the doorway of Skylars recovery room.
¨But dude this is a chance to see Brent, the big cool kid, in pain instead of another student at school. We could be the first ones to witness it,¨ Dezz complained to Skylar.
¨Dezz it doesn't matter right now, both of us are in pain, he didn't cause the trouble this time,¨ Skylar explained slowly sitting up in his hospital bed, the wires hooked to him pulling on his skin.
¨Well then was it your fault?¨
Skylar was shocked to hear a second thing from Dezz that had connected to his dream. He knew it was all a dream but somehow the dream kept happening every night for the past few weeks and now there have been events connecting to what the old voice has said in the night.
¨Just don't bother him Dezz, he could be in serious medical need at the moment. Plus they wouldn't let you in there anyway.¨
Dezz sat back in one of the chairs lined on the walls and folded his arms. Skylar got him to cheer up by asking him to go get Dezz and him some food from downstairs by the commons area in the hospital. That got Dezz to perk up, the word food usually always distracted him.
While he was gathering some food the nurse for the day came in to do the normal every few hour check. The cuff scoze his arm and the little machine popped up with numbers and beeped with every blink. Skylars mom came back in after following his dad to Brents recovery room.
Dezz returned moments later with a tray filled with a cracker. Skylar had fallen asleep waiting for his food to arrive. The rest felt good to him and was something he needed, and really the only thing he could do at the moment.
¨I'll just leave this here,¨ Dezz said setting the tray down on a little table next to Skylars bed. Skylars mom looked at the tray and the one lonely cracker sitting in the middle of it.
¨What's the cracker for?¨ His mom asked Dezz.
¨Oh Skylar asked for some food but I got hungry when getting it and I thought maybe Skylar couldn't handle too much at a time anyway,¨ Dezz explained pointing to the tray. ¨You're welcome Mrs.. Calom.¨
¨Do you plan on visiting Skylar again sometime?¨ Mrs. Calom asked.
¨Yes eventually, with the school falling down there has been a lot of transferring going on. I now go to a school close to the hospital so when I get out I can come visit him most days.¨
¨Skylar would like that very much, just depends on what is happening when you come by.¨
¨Well I'll come and check tomorrow, I have to go home now and get homework done, tell Skylar I left for me.¨
¨Want me to tell him you said bye?¨
¨No just that I left should be fine,¨ Dezz said as he walked out the door closing it behind him.
Mrs. Calom looked at the cracker just sitting on the red tray. She felt sorry for Skylar, that one cracker is all his stomach is going to be able to handle. She hoped that they could figure out what happened to the school almost a week ago. She was thankful for his peer, Brent, that he saved Skylar from the falling debris. He still didn't know exactly what happened, Skylar wasn't up to telling the story yet, she wasn't even sure he remembered what happened when the school collapsed.
A doctor, one that helped with Skylars operation to help him from the crushing cement, walked into his room. He saw that Skylar was resting again, asleep in his own dream world. He showed Mrs. Calom some papers and started explaining a few things to her while Skylar was out.
