A few days had passed and preparations for the upcoming wedding had begun. Jewellery was being chosen for the bride and catalogues were being flipped through for the choice of bridal wear. Deepika unwillingly sat between Ujjala and Lilly during the process.
Deepika enjoyed seeing the beautiful pieces of gold and cloth, but getting reminded that it was for her wedding would then only ruin the moment.
"This necklace is so pretty, huh Deepika?" Ujjala held the accessory up to her daughter's chest.
"Yes Maa." Deepika nodded, which she kept doing for the past couple of hours with a small smile present on her lips.
"This one is so gorgeous!" Lilly pointed to a necklace which was studded with rubies and emeralds.
"Oh yes!" Ujjala picked it up and put it up against Deepika again.
Deepika let out a sigh.
"We still haven't chosen the bridal gown." Ujjala grabbed one of the catalogues and flipped through it's pages.
"Maa, can't we please do it tomorrow? We've already been staring at the jewellery for the past three hours. Who knows how long it will take to chose the dress?" Deepika pleaded.
"Beta, this is your wedding we are preparing for. Shouldn't you be more excited?"
"Maa." Deepika grumbled.
"Why don't Deepika and I go out for a walk? We'll be back later Aunty. A break would be nice." Lilly jumped into the conversation grabbing her cousin's arm.
Deepika sighed in relief. She looked towards Lilly gratefully. She knew if she sat for another minute staring at pictures of jewellery or clothes, she would explode. The whole preparation of the wedding was just suffocating her now.
"Ok Lilly. Be back soon." Ujjala agreed.
Lilly tugged Deepika out of the large living room and then out of the house. They went towards a bench situated on the side of the house and sat down.
"Something is bothering you." Lilly broke the silence between them.
"I don't wanna get married." Deepika groaned.
"It's more than that." Lilly raised a brow. "Go on, tell me."
"Lilly it's nothing."
"Deepika." Lilly sternly said.
"Fine jeez." Deepika grumbled. "Am I that easy to read?"
Lilly shrugged grinning.
Deepika decided it was time to tell Lilly about Zayn. No one here in Mumbai knew about her relationship with him and that was making this whole wedding situation harder. Nolee unfortunately didn't get her visa so that also had her bummed. "I have a boyfriend back in LA."
"Whoa what?!" Lilly's eyes widened. "I didn't see that coming at all!"
"Yeah." Deepika nodded looking away. "We only started dating two weeks ago and then I found out I was engaged to some guy here in India."
"Weren't you in Australia then?"
"I was and he was also on the trip with me. We went to the same high school and college. Actually I never told anyone this, but Zayn bullied me back in high school. Only my best friend knew. I hated him until few weeks ago, when he started being all nice and then confessed that he loved me."
"Aw that's so cute." Lilly cooed.
"But then I broke his heart when I told him that I had to leave for India." Deepika bit her lip thinking about that day again.
"I'm sorry." Lilly rubbed Deepika's back.
"I love him so much and I can't imagine getting married to some random guy. I just wanna go back to LA. Go back to Zayn." Deepika's shoulders slumped. "I'm trying so hard to forget about him but I can't. But I know I have to as much as it'll be pain in the ass to."
As Lilly comforted Deepika, a car pulled up into the long driveway and stopped in front of the house. Deepika's watched the car and wondered who had arrived. The door then opened, and a boy with a slight muscular built stepped out. He had dark hair with a light stubble sprinkled on the bottom half of his chiseled face. Deepika got up from the bench as she stared at the male stranger in awe. She admitted to herself he was quite attractive.
Deepika walked up to the boy, who was wearing a light blue dress shirt with black pants, with Lilly following her close behind. "Hi, can I help you?"
"Hello. This is the Padukone residence?" the male smiled pointing towards the house.
"Yes and you are?"
"Sid." he introduced himself.
"Oh."
"You must be Deepika?"
"Um yes." Deepika looked at Lilly in surprise as the stranger knew her name. Lilly was unusually smiling widely which made her more confused.
"Well I'm just here to drop off something to your mother. Bye." Sid brushed past Deepika, who was feeling completely lost.
"Who the hell was that? And why are you smiling so weird?" Deepika asked after Sid was out of her sight.
"Dumbass, that's Sidharth! The same Sidharth Malhotra that's your future hubby." Lilly rested her elbow on Deepika's shoulder.
"What?!"
"Not my fault you didn't want to see his picture the other day." Lilly shrugged as she continued to grin.
Deepika shrugged Lilly off of her and crossed her arms.
"Your thoughts? I think he's hot."
Deepika bit her lip. She agreed with Lilly that her fiancé was handsome, but she felt it was inappropriate to say anything as she still was somewhat in a relationship with Zayn.
"Dude." Lilly nudged Deepika's side.
"Ugh ok, I guess he's pretty nice looking."
"You lucky bitch." Lilly chuckled.
Deepika asked herself, was she truly with the situation she had herself stuck in?
NOW YOU ALL KNOW (well I'm sure the picture gave it away lol)!! (but on a serious note, why haven't Deepika and Sid been casted together in a movie yet?? :O)
