Marina walks out in a new outfit, a cute floral dress with a pink leather jacket over it, finished with pink pumps.

"That's a cute outfit," I stated. She smiled.

"Thank you. Yours is too," she replied.

"It was from last night," I told her. I spoke last night like as if nothing even happened. That's how it goes. Play it cool.

"I swear, I wouldn't have noticed if I didn't know what you wore last night," she laughed. I laughed too, but it wasn't genuine. I hope its bitterness wasn't visible.

"So, let's-" I started but got interrupted by the ringtone of my phone.

I pulled it out of my pocket and glanced to see who was calling me.

Jim.

I stood frozen.

"Lizzy, what's wrong?" she asked.

"Jim," I almost mouthed.

I looked up to Marina and she looked as though she had seen a ghost.

I decided I should answer it because he might be suspicious if I didn't.

"Jim?" I greeted him.

"Lizzy, what's wrong? Are you alright? You hadn't come home," Jim asked, sounding concerned...but not in a bad way.

"Oh, yes, I'm fine. Sorry I hadn't warned you, but I slept over at Marina's last night," I informed him.

"Oh, thank God, you're with Marina! That's alright. I was worried about you. You two have fun, I'll see you later on. Love you," and with a verbal kiss he hung up. Wow, okay. If only he knew what really went down last night. I couldn't even imagine his reaction.

"Jim seemed really different. He was okay with it. He told us to have fun. I guess he's really trying," I sighed, realising about how my weird sudden love for Marina had distracted me from my love for Jim. I'm not even sure I loved him anymore.

I felt so stuck, so confused, so afraid. I didn't have support, but I needed it. I needed it badly. Where's Chuck when I need her?

"Oh my God!" exclaimed Marina, half-snapping me out of my thoughts. "That's incredible!"

"Yeah," I sighed, a wave of melancholy over me. I really couldn't have been bothered with Jim right now. Right then, I wanted Marina and only Marina.

"Lana, what's wrong?" Marina asked, concerned at my gloom. I loved the way she alternated between the use of Lana and Lizzy. It was cute. But remember, I'm not supposed to think like this.

"Oh, nothing," I dismissed, changing the subject with, "so are we going to go to the park?"

"Yeah, let's go," Marina replied.

We arrived at the park. The drive was dead silent, but the beautiful greenery and the mesmerising atmosphere of the garden pulled me into a trance. I felt wild and free; lightweight! My worries and fears and been brushed away by the beautiful branches of the trees outlining the perimeter of the whimsical park. It was so perfect.

The sun shone in an extravagant manner, causing the park to grow even more exquisite. It was lovely weather too, so everything was perfect.

Almost.

My eyes caught Marina. The sunlight complimented her face perfectly. It shone in her eyes, causing her dark hazel irises to beam a glamorous gold colour. Her eyes were gold. She was gold. She was too pristine for me, too valuable. It would make sense, right?

It was so beautiful yet painful at the same time.

We sat down upon a bench and I attempted to ask her about last night. I couldn't keep it locked up anymore

"Why did you do that last night?" I asked her.

"I told you, I don't know. I'm sorry, Lana," she responded with words that were like a knife to my chest. They hurt so bad.

But why doesn't she know? It doesn't make sense to do it while somewhat sober and not have a reason.

I was in the Garden of Eden...and Marina was the Tree of Wisdom. I was tempted to see what good Marina might give me: would she turn my world upside down and make everything better? I interrupt my thoughts again, JIM!! Jim was Adam. And I was Eve. Stuck in this horrible Garden Of Eden.

author note: I'm so sorry about this super short chapter. I've been really busy and I told myself I had to finish it...even though it's like 12:30 a.m. so I'm so sorry if nothing makes sense. and whatever errors you pick up, please let me know.
