//WARNING SAD FIC AHEAD\\

Your name is Dave Strider, and you are currently sitting next to a hospital bed, with tears building up in your eyes. Next to you, wrapped in a blue blanket was your best friend John Egbert. But he wasn't much company.
For 3 years, John has been in a coma. And according to the doctors, his chance of survival was slim.
But even if he did wake up, he'd have nowhere to go. Only about a week after he found out his son would most likely never wake up, John's father was found hanging from the living room ceiling, a freshly baked 'welcome home' cake for his son set on the coffee table along with a lovely letter to the boy, saying that he'd see his father soon.
You knew it would break Johns heart to find out his father was dead, but you still wanted him to wake up.
Truth is, you loved him. You had for the longest time. Even though the two of you had met over the internet, you still had a strong connection from the start. You loved him, and now you could loose him forever.
With a sigh, you pulled yourself out of your seat and took out a dried out bouquet, replacing it with a fresh bunch of blue tulips.
"Dave...?" Rose called quietly from behind you. You look over your shoulder, but you don't answer.
"Visiting hours are almost over..." She said in a shushed tone. "You should probably get going."
You nod and look back over to John, tears forming at the edges of your Crimson eyes. You heard Rose sigh from behind you, and felt a hand on your shoulder.
"Dave... It's been three years. We can't keep him like this forever. It's time to say goodbye..." You could hear Rose choking back tears as she spoke.
"I can't." You mutter, looking at the pale, unconscious boy in front of you. There was a long pause before Rose spoke again.
"Dave, is this really what you want him to wake up to?" Your eyes widened a bit. Out of all the things you had expected Rose to say, that was not one of them. As you pondered on what she had told you, you realize she was right. He had no family, nowhere to go, and nothing left except you, Rose, and Jade. But none of you could take care of him. None of you could pay for the medical bills. None of you had jobs. And with school, none of us could make sure he was OK.
You sighed and brushed a couple loose strands of hair away from his eyes. Rose's words were swimming through your head as your eyes made contact with a plug attached to the wall. Should you? Is he better off this way? You can't keep him here forever...
Tears streamed down your eyes as you slowly pulled the plug away from the outlet. You looked back up at John, hoping that he'd open his eyes... Or better yet, that you'd open your eyes and find out that it had all been some cruel dream. You hoped that when you did, you'd see his bucked tooth grin smiling back at you.
But neither of these things happened. You closed your eyes and listened to the soft, constant drone of the heart monitor. Finally, as you gave him a soft kiss on the forehead, you whispered your very last words to John Egbert.
"Sweet dreams."
