The plane ride was smooth some part of the ride, rough turbulence hit some times and I just managed to ignore it while I dozed off, though still cautious of my surroundings.
When one of the men wanted to be more comfortable, than sitting stiffly in a seat while mean shoved each other and joked around, they picked me up and let me rest my head against their chest while my eyes stayed closed. If my gut felt off, I would've moved away from him but I felt safe.
Small conversations picked up during the flight, some of the men spoke of the girls back home. Most of them went on about how pretty they were and how they meet each other. Others spoke of where they're from and if they were drafted or enlisted into the army. The men who enlisted either wanted to impress the dolls or just really wanted to help win the war. The ones drafted, usually spoke of them trying their girls out and making the most of the movement. Some even for engaged because of being drafted.
Surprisingly I was drafted. The army knew of me and what I was capable of, it didn't take much more than that for them to enlist me. I didn't object when they forced me in the position of being a Sergeant. It was actually quite and honor, since I was a girl and all. I wasn't an ordinary girl though. I wore pants like a man, worked like a man and had the respect of men. I also had sympathy for being a women, but I didn't care. I go in, get out and have a finished job. I'm pretty sure we're going to win the war, we've got great leaders, great soldiers even though some of them are as cocky as the next ones. Those men are the first to be killed in battle.
My eyes slowly open and I feel a scruff against my forehead. It tickles me slightly, but not too bad. I blink a few times realizing that for once I had actually and fully fell asleep and I surprisingly slept on the plane.
Regaining my hearing, I listen to the breathing of soldier's arms I'm in. He seems quite built, not as big as men can get, but he had enough strength to make him a good soldier, a great one.
"How long should the flight be left?" The guy asks and I find myself wondering the same. I also wonder how long I slept, I doubt it could've been for so long.
"A few minutes, then it'll be an hour ride with the trucks and jeeps to the base." I hear the voice of Johnson speak up. I feel myself get giddy at the thought of almost being there. Though I did sleep longer than I thought.
"Once we get there, we're gonna meet at the stage for the Colonels to dismiss us and then we'll set our tents up with a big fire later on for dinner. Some of us might go out hunting for fresh meat." I climb from the arms of whoever I was curled into. I feel cold almost immediately and resist the urge to crawl back into the guy's arms.
I stretch my arms with a yawn. I adjust my pony tail grabbing a jacket and finding out its mine, I shove my arms through the sleeves and I grab my cap, shoving it on my head.
I'm thrown backwards as the plane descends upon the ground. Hands grab me, pulling me into a story of one armed hug while they try to hold on themselves. I feel stabilized as the plane goes in sharp shudders against the wind. I guess it could be blowing quite that hard outside the plane.
"Who was I sleeping on?" I ask, though the plane is still shaking and shuddering.
"The guy currently holding you." Johnson replied and I turn around and when I see the person I grin. So he's the comfy, little, buff soldier I was sleeping on. I was curious as the guy's asks him, but I'm alright with that.
"OH, thanks for being my pillow, Bucky." I smile warmly and he smiles back.
"Your welcome and did you know that you snore?" I chuckle shaking my head. Learn something more and I don't snore. I just release noises from my mouth week I fall into a deep unconsciousness.
