I woke up the next morning, hoping Chloe would be there, but she wasn't. The apartment was silent, so I assumed Chloe left. Why would she leave? I wanted her to stay.. I reached for a crutch next to my bed and struggled to get up. Walking with crutches isn't as awful as I thought it would be. Yeah, I'm a lot slower and stairs are a pain in the ass, but now, I have a really good excuse for being lazy.
After taking 30 minutes to get down my 15 stairs, I proceeded to hobble to my kitchen in hopes of finding food. Nothing. As soon as I opened my fridge, I was hit with the smell of rotting milk and moldy chicken. I guess no ones eaten here in a while. Ugh, what now? Pizza for breakfast? I think yes.
I limped into the den to find my phone on the coffee table. I checked to see if Chloe had called or texted about coming back, but nothing. I hadn't really looked at my phone since they gave it back to me at the hospital. The only people I recognize in my contacts are my mom and dad. And I guess Chloe now too. Even though I don't, you know, remember our relationship, she is the background on my phone, and if you look through the camera roll, it's just pictures of us. I am curious about this one picture. It's of me, Chloe, and some guy. I'm just curious because it's on my phone and hanging in the apartment. I'm assuming the guy is Jesse? I don't really know.. Enough thinking, Beca, you're hungry.
As soon as I dialed the number for a pizza place, heaven walked through the door. By heaven, I mean Chloe with donuts and coffee.
"Beca!" Chloe panicked, "What are you doing down here? Your leg, Beca! You shouldn't be wa-" I cut her off. Honestly, it was cute how protective she was of me.
"Chloe, it's fine! I'm fine, see? And if you didn't want me to move, then why'd you leave? Did you expect me to stay in bed all day?" I asked Chloe as she handed me my breakfast.
"No, just, it's morning. You usually, well, when you're not working, you usually wake up in the afternoon, so I didn't expect you to be awake by the time I got back." Chloe stated as she plopped down next to me. Hm, waking up in the afternoon, seems like me. Chloe looks really cute this morning.. Wait.. What?
This whole Chloe and I thing is kind of confusing. I know that we're together, even though she left me. I know that she likes me. I think I like her, but it's still weird, you know? Like, can I touch her? Tell her she looks good? Eh, screw thinking.
"You look good this morning." I told Chloe, mouth full of donut. I'm such a lady killer.. The sweetest smile formed on Chloe's face. Yeah, I'm a total lady killer. I playfully nudged her arm as she blushed. We both laughed and I fed her some of my donut. It was a great morning.
"Okay Becs, time to take your medicine."
Shit. Suddenly, the morning turned. I hate my medicine.
"Nooo," I whined, "that stuff makes me all sleepy and stuff."
Chloe placed her hand on my thigh. You better believe I nearly pounced on her. I gulped hard and I knew she knew I was staring at her a more, you know, kind of way.
"Beca, I know you hate it, but you have to take it. How about I stay with you after you take it? And we can cuddle till you fall asleep. While you're asleep, I can go to the grocery store and clean up around here." Suddenly, medicine didn't sound so bad. I nodded in agreement, then Chloe went to get my mess.
After taking them, Chloe and I laid on the couch and she told me more stories about us until I fell asleep. It was an amazing morning.
