Worth It

That first night in Florida, after Chloe's break down and our awkward, silent lunch, Chloe just took me to my hotel. When I got out of the car, Chloe helped me with my bags and we went to my room together. The whole situation, was awkward. Not just any kind of awkward either. It was the kind of awkward where you feel so uncomfortable that you hold your breath in hopes of passing out, just so that you can leave the situation. Yeah, it was that bad...

The studio really hooked me up. They booked me in the presidential suite, and the manager gave me this special number so that I wouldn't be put on hold whenever I called room service. I caught Chloe smile when the front desk guy called me 'Ms. Mitchell.' That smile reminds me of how supportive she was of my music. I know she's proud of me, and she always has been.

Chloe sat on the couch in the den area of my suite as I walked around, looking at all of the rooms. I was still upset about her whole breakdown, but I was also excited about my job and my room and the fact that doors were actually opening up for me in the music business. Am I wrong for thinking this way? I sat next to Chloe on the couch. We both stared out the giant window in the room that showed all of Miami. It would have been a perfect moment, except the tension between Chloe and I kind of killed any chances of that.

How could we let this happens to us? Was she right? Is this not worth it anymore?... I glanced at Chloe and she looked back. My God, her eyes... of course this is worth it. This girl in front of me, is something special. No, I don't know if she's 'the one', but I know that she is everything worth fighting for, and I'm gonna fight like hell... I don't really know how to though...

It was still 6:00. Chloe and I had been sitting in silence for 20 minutes. I didn't really have anything to say. I don't think she had the energy to say anymore.. I guess the silence was mutual. I knew Chloe was getting sleepy. She always does this cute little yawn that's different from her usual ones whenever she wants to take a nap. To be honest, I was pretty tired too.

I decided to test the waters and made a pretty ballsy move. I stood up from the couch and took Chloe's hand. Chloe flinched when I first touched her. I placed my other hand under her chin and had her look up at me. I shot her this look that said, "It's okay." and I felt her relax as she let me take her hand. I pulled her up from the couch and led her down the hall into the bedroom. Everything that was happening, seemed to be in slow motion. I intertwined our fingers as I pulled her to sit on the bed with me. I reached for her sweater and gently took it off. She laid back on the bed, anxiously. I placed my hand on her thigh and she calmed instantly. Chloe watched me as I took of my jacket. I wanted to kiss her so badly, but I knew Chloe wouldn't really be in the mood. Instead, I just rested my head on her stomach and wrapped an arm around her waist. I felt a wave of relief crash over me when I felt her fingers start to run through my hair. Chloe relaxed and breathed slowly. I laid on her and was soothed by the sound of her heartbeat. When I couldn't feel Chloe's fingers in my hair anymore, I knew she had fallen asleep. I let myself fall asleep shortly after.

I woke up in complete darkness. I couldn't feel Chloe. I sat up and walked over to turn on the lights. When I did, I saw that she was gone... I checked my phone, it was 2 A. M.. Why didn't she stay with me? I looked around the room and noticed a sticky note on the bed side table.

This is worth it. -Chloe
