Little Hands

There are cold fingers
That grab and twist the knife.
There's a curdling cry
Underneath scared stars.

Two sets of eyes.
One dead, one dark;
Hooded with sacrifice
And guilty glee.

Little hands. They're white.
Stark and startling
Against a mourning night,
An indifferent, tired sky.
