He had done it. Finally. After so many years of trying he had finally done it. Royce Hunter was now immortal. He laughed insanely, oh, did it feel amazing to not have to worry about Death around every corner.

His red eyes scanned his hands and arms for anything that seemed different. Nothing. Perfect.

Disbelief quickly faded into horror, though as he realized that his youngest brother, Luca, would still grow old and eventually die...

He'd have to change that. The sadist couldn't bare they thought of his brother's death on his conscience, so he went to work. For days, weeks, months and years he worked on a way for his brother to cheat death, but it was no use.

Luca, at age nine, was hospitalized after obtaining a terrible sickness. Royce still refused to give up trying and continued t experiment for another month as Luca faded away.

One day, the older brother got a call that his younger brother was dying. He immediately put the experimenting on hold and rushed to the hospital, shoving anyone that got in his way to the side before stopping in the doorway of Luca's hospital room. His breathing was ragged and heavy, sweat beading his forehead, but his attention was only on the little boy.

"Oh, Luca," he whispered, making his way to his bedside. His knees gave out and he fell to them at his brother's side, gently gripping his cold hand in his.

The younger male coughed weakly before offering a shaky smile. "Hey Roy," he croaked.

Smiling sadly, Royce ran a hand through his younger brother's hair. "I don't like seeing you like this, Luca. I've been trying so hard to find a way to give you what I have. I can't let you go."

Luca reached up and grabbed his hands weakly. "Do you love me, Roy?" He asked his older brother, big red eyes looking up at him.

Royce's smile dropped into a frown quickly as he squeezed his hands. "Of course I do, Luca. Why wouldn't I?"

The young boy smiled faintly. "If you love me, then let me die. Don't let my death change you," he whispered, stunning his older brother into silence. "Please, Roy."

The silver haired man nodded, kissing his forehead lovingly. "Okay, Luca," he whispered through silent tears. "I love you."

His younger brother kissed his cheek before the heart monitor flatlined and he was gone.

Royce broke down sobbing over the body of his brother, clutching to his hands. "If I could bring you back, I would, but I promised to let you go... I love you Luca. I love you so much."
