P.I.E. behind the scenes

The Interns

"I-I" my voice trailed off as I was still just inches away from sir.

"We will never speak of this again, agreed?"

"Agreed. Sir?"

"Yes?"

"The interns are here."

Sir's face mirrored my mortification, we stood there for a moment wondering what we should do. I broke the silence first.

"Sir why don't you go have a seat at the dining table and I will get the door?"

"Sure also why do we interview possible interns at our house and not at P.I.E. head quarters?"

"I honestly don't know Sir"

Sir started to zone out so I decided to break the silence again.

"Um Sir are you ok?"

"Wha - what?"

"Sir I was asking you if you were ok"

"I'm fine ..... just thinking"

"About what?"

"Where the closest exit is."

I knew something was wrong, he never zoned out until he investigated the "box friend" and he never talks about it's almost as if he wants to forget about something that happened. He had another one of his episodes also where he forgets what had just happened and the only time he does that is when he wants to forget something badly. I jotted that down in my note book then went to get the door. I had to find out what happened. No matter what the consequence.
