There was an eerie silence as we stared at each other. I slowly felt my world come crashing down. What if more outsiders come? They’ll destroy everything.

“Are their more of you?” I breathed.

“I… I don’t –”

“Just answer me! Are their more of you?” I yelled.

“No there isn’t. It’s just me.” He put his hands up in defense.

So if there’s no more of them coming, my tribe is safe. I let out a breath I didn’t know I was holding. Now only if I knew what to do with this Gill person. I could take him back to the village but he probably would never return to his home.

I could kill him, but that would be too messy. So many options, I closed my eyes and sighed. When I opened them again I almost screamed. Gill was just inches from my face and he was examining my hair. I took three giant steps backward.

“What in the bloody moon are you doing?!” I screamed.

“Your hair, it’s beautiful. It’s so white and your eyes. I’ve never seen anyone like you before.” He looked fascinated. People aren’t supposed to be fascinated by me, there supposed to be afraid. Especially an outsider.

“He’s so odd.” I whispered.

I couldn’t help myself, I took a closer look at Gill and he too had features that would knock any girl off her feet. He was almost two feel taller than me, and I’m not a small girl. I shook my head. I shouldn’t be thinking of him like this.

“Where are you from? What’s your name? Do you have parents? -”I had to stop him there.

“You ask too many questions. You’re an outsider and we do not tolerate that where I come from, even so you don’t look like the type to bring harm to us.” He did actually. A guy like him, with a strong build looked like he could do plenty harm but looking into his eyes I saw something.. kind.

I thought about letting him go but I couldn’t risk him going around and spreading the news about my tribe even if he had big brown eyes.

“Listen, you’ll have to come with me. Back to my village, the elders will decide what to do with you.” He had a blank expression on his face. He was so different than what I expected outsiders to be.

“No.” he said simply.

“You have no choice Gill.” I walked towards him and surprisingly enough he didn’t flinch or make a run for it. He just stood there. He obviously took notice of my dogs, Ayah and Aria, who were ready waiting for my command.

“Will they kill me?”

“I’m not sure.” I came up behind him and gave him a nudge with my boomerang. He started walking.

We were silent as we walked. I could faintly hear the dog’s feet crunching into the snow and I took notice to Gills slow, steady breathing. He was frighteningly calm.

The snow started to fall harder. I could tell there was a storm coming.

“We need to quicken our pace. I don’t want to get caught out here.” I said. We were edging closer to the village. We only had to cross the bridge and we would be there.

“This bridge doesn’t look safe. There isn’t even a side railing. What if someone fell off?” Gill said while testing it with his foot.

“It is safe, and no one has ever fallen off before. Now get moving.” He started walking and I saw how careful he was being. It was almost comical. This is the safest bridge out there.
